Scare and creeped out are not the same thing. I am 38 and I use to feel creeped out by certain console menus. PS1,2 and OG XBOX all had eerie moments.

Same. I think it's the combination of dark colors, the cube being "ghost-like", the weird sound effects, and the moody ambient music. If I had to use an analogy, the Gamecube menu makes me feel like I'm trapped in a cold black void. The Wii menu on the other hand is the exact opposite. It feels very safe, warm and comforting.
