>try some beta code after dev begged for it
>game stops working out of beta after disabling beta, reinstall, disabling beta for all games, reinstall
Why is Steam such trash? This wouldn't happen on GOG. The game is shit so I don't care much but goddamn how do Steamies defend things like this.

how do you construe that steam has caused the ctd and not the dev
Anonymous No.718975071 [Report]
steam sucks at times but its doesnt seem like a steam issue to be honest? maybe the dev just sucks or something glory to the CCP

steam is still the best choice
if there was a better app, i'd use it, but there isn't

how does it offer a "beta/opt-out beta" button and make it so disabling beta option doesn't revert everything to do with beta? dunno, I can't be sure but that has to do with steam probably

phoneposter-kun are you sure that this is exactly what has happened presuming that you have not compared the files prior to and after your installation and disabling of beta content

if steam removed all the beta why game not work?
let's say dev installed a virus on my machine. Steam never said "by opting to beta, dev might install a virus on your machine." What kinda service is this then?WTF??

esl-kun why would steam removing the beta be guaranteed to have any influence on whether the game would or wouldn't work
why couldn't it be an issue arising from, oh i don't know, that you reinstalled it twice over instead of web searching the issue on your precious phone
and god knows what else you might have done with or without knowing that you're not telling us

1. I uninstalled the game. This means the game should be gone, poof. It's erased from my machine.
2. I remove every beta-related option. There should be no issues with beta.
3. I install the game again. This means the game should be good as new, like a fresh install, and there's no issue with a beta, when I'm not even signed into beta.

>1. I uninstalled the game. This means the game should be gone, poof. It's erased from my machine.
It depends on the game; I've had at least two games not uninstall after refunding (got them for free), and in both cases it was an issue with the devs not setting up the game properly rather than with Steam.
>2. I remove every beta-related option. There should be no issues with beta.
You pressed the "remove beta" button. It's up to the dev to decide what that entails, not Steam; they're the ones who made those files and wrote that code in the first place. Steam doesn't magically dictate or know this. They didn't make the game.
>3. I install the game again. This means the game should be good as new, like a fresh install, and there's no issue with a beta, when I'm not even signed into beta.
This is dependent upon whether you've found both Point 1 and Point 2 to be non-issues, for at least one of which you haven't. I would suspect that you might have come to this conclusion if you were not a pigmentally-challenged phoneposter.

So as we can see, Steam is complicit. It offers features it can't support, bug you with news. Has no transparency, etc. Everything about it is terrible. It's so-to speak `anti-consumer`.
