In terms of abilities she's probably redundant, but then again so is Mario in this movie. I think Daisy still could carve a niche as the more fun-loving of the two. Movie Peach is very serious, which isn't quite the demure demeanor she has in the games, but is still reserved enough to distinguish Daisy as the more energetic and boisterous of the two.

I still lament changing Peach's personality though. If they'd just made her Smash Peach--gentle and feminine but will hit you with a golf club or her ass when threatened--she could have stood out as a somewhat unique character. They gave her a stock "strong female" personality instead.
