Strong personalities is one way of putting it. Most of them are obnoxious as hell.
Qara and Bishop are some of the most annoying companions I've met in an rpg.
The dwarf was the only decent character.

I liked most of their personalities. I wanted to fuck Neeshka with her Lacey Chabert squeaky voice. Elanie was me, Sand was great, I forget the names of most of the other companions nowadays. I do remember we had a gnome illusionist and a halfling thief, and the only Cleric in the game was a late, late, late addition to the party, the gith bitch. Ugly as fuck. Lae'zel is a wonder by comparison.

they added difficulty slider in recent releases, im playing the mid setting atm and it feels only slightly above vanilla core but the fact spells are more balanced plus u cant just breach everything makes battles 100x more enjoyable. Like most people i also installed SCS component which adds few IWD spells, gives clerics/druids couple of strong spells (enemies have access to it too) they are a lot more fun to play now.

Khelgar, Neeshka, my nigga Sand, Ammon Jerro, Zhjaeve, and even Shandra Jerro were all kino and good. Casamir was also good despite most of his story getting gutted. Elanee was a weird pedo stalker and sanctimonious tree-hugger, Bishop was dogshit but got what he fuckin deserved so it was worth it, Qara was annoying yes, and Grobnar should cease existence (and got fuckin crushed to death by a column).
I never managed to finish Icewind dale, I always end up tired of the combat by the time I reach the ice temple.
10 years ago I used to want people to remade the game with better combat but these days I realize all remakes are dogshit so it's never going to be an improvement.

I am the exact same as you, but recently, and I can't really say why, I hit upon an actual good and viable party and finally managed to beat the game. I've replayed it 3 times since then and have more fun each time coming up with new parties, I guess it just took about 10 years for it to click with me. Now I wish there had been more IE games where you make your own party. I also used AI portraits

Yes, blade is good and fun. You do need some serious gear if you want to deal good melee damage (because no fighter APR or grand mastery), but bards level up fast and thus end up with a lot of caster levels. Great for tanking and dispelling (and defensive spin + buffs can give you absurd AC). Offensive spin is nice early game too.

either testing works and the data would then show an equality of the sexes. if the testing is changed because they immediately bias themselves that they are equal then it completely invalidates testing on it's own. if they really are biasing testing based on the premise of something being equal that's garbage testing.
