Do you not understand that if that were the case, the Volkihar intro would've been worked on first and destroying the Dawnguard would've been a main quest in their path instead of a side quest like it is in the final game? Versus the Volkihar path where it's the same missions so you get vampire vs vampire dungeons, Serana decides to stick around the father she dislikes solely because of you, a brand new vampire that still accepted the Volkihar gift and thus can't be that good morally, the Castle is static, the moth priest's dialogue barely changes once he's made a thrall so his cadence is still that of afriend and not a slave like in the few lines they did change, infiltrating Valerica's study feels lesser because the Castle is your headquarters as it is, there's no choice to be had in the Soul Cairn and the ending still railroads you into fighting Harkon, forgetting the Dawnguard entirely even when the DLC started with them and is named after them. What I get from that is that the *idea* behind creating a DLC centered around vampires came from the Game Jam's Vampire Lord, not that the questline was written or intended to be vampire-only from the get go. In other words, it sounds like their coming up with the Dawnguard faction was during the planning stages as well, before any work was done on the actual expansion. It's a statistical fact that people don't like playing bad guys in videogames and will almost always go with the nice guy options. That's why a DLC like Knights of the Nine that is centered solely around joining a paladin order is fine for most players. Releasing one where you're forced to join icky villainous vampires would've been a huge mistake and they did the right thing coming up with the vampire hunters. Whenever I see Dawnguard being talked about online most everyone joins them over Harkon.

Then I got curious and rewatched a video of when you free her in the crypt and she actually flat out tells you she has an Elder Scroll if you ask (I wasn't sure when you learned that tidbit, I thought it was in the vamp castle), but you have zero dialogue option to tell Isran about that unimportant detail if you bring her to him despite being able to point out to him she's a vampire. Isran even has that line about how she must have something the vampires want, yeah lol what could it be lmao.

So he lets her walk away with what you know is an Elder Scroll because you couldn't tell him anything, so you can find out what the vampires want with her, which is the Elder Scroll.
