as much as i do love the original and the remake i don't think remake replaces OG re1 since it's got enough differences and doesn't flow into OG re2 and 3 as well as the original does
if anything it's it's own game but it is a great example of a remake that tries to expand on the original without straying too far from what made the original a good game

Both REMake and RE1 are great but REMake doesn't replace it simply due to the "tone" of the mansion. In RE1 it just looks like a functional mansion, REMake gave it this gothic horror look. Its a totally different atmosphere and its perfectly valid to expect fans of the series to experience both

Original RE is probably the best video game ever made. The GameCube remake is an 8/10 fun game that you forget after playing. The aesthetics are ruined, the voice acting is now too good, the self defense weapons are a terrible patch on being able to kite zombies through clever movement, the shotgun doesn’t guarantee headshots.

No. REmake 1 does not replace the 1996 RE1.
It is built on the assumption that the player has beaten all of classic RE1-3.
