Well Rabbit also lets you pop a card when you activate Azurune, so in theory it's a two-for-two. Mostly there are just some decks that can convert extraneous material into a Link-2 but don't want to use I:P or S:P for whatever reason. Exodia comes to mind, because if you start with Sengengin or Shield, you just have these two bodies that do nothing, so you can basically trade them in for a summon negate. And Azurune will stick around despite the Ankh's self-shuffle effect.

A lot of the game's more interesting tech thrives in these edge-cases. See also Haggard Lizardose in Malice.

I had no starters.
Sure, I could let Ash through and just TTT for two more cards, and maybe even save the Called by for Droll...
But he saw I was desperate just to get a draw 1, and that's why he Ashed. He knows how desperate I was, so if he had Droll, it would've been better to save Ash and Droll the draw 1.
That's how I knew it was safe to use Called by, and I could just get 3 fresh cards instead of just 2. And that 1 extra drew me early into Engage.

Unlikely, K9 is from the set after Holy Sue (Justice Hunters vs Duelist Advance). We've got some time left until Holy Sue though, we've got to get through Alliance Insight first. We'll probably start getting that next month, given that Supreme Darkness is basically done aside from some random free agents. Technically we've gotten ALIN cards, like Dippity, Gordian Slicer, and the Ryzeal/Malice support, but we didn't totally finish off Maze of the Master yet. I could see the next pack being Man with the Mark stuff plus an ALIN archetype like Mitsurugi. We've been getting random Maze of the Master cards alongside proper releases for a while now.

OTS locations have the option of using either the WCS banlist or the regular TCG one so you'll want to make sure what they're doing beforehand. Justice Hunters is legal for the WCS banlist as it was released on August 1st, which is before the arbitrary cutoff. The new cards from Battles of Legends: Monster Mayhem won't be legal though due to the delays to that set's release outside of North America, and any TCG exclusive cards from ROTA onward are also not allowed.

Between this, the TCG chibis, and the Breaker "Alt art" it feels like they're experimenting with new ways to monetize the game. Which I hope they're successful with, because if they can make people whale for minimum effort alts over purposefully making overpowered decks for them to whale for then that's good for the game.

Nah this exists, you can add adversarial noise to an image and it ends up having this slightly distorted looking effect (The more noise, the more distorted it looks). Some JP artists really go nuts with it, to the point where it ruins the art, and that's what the background on new Breaker looks like. The irony is that most image generation models are literally just de-noisers with statistical weights attached. So filtering adversarial noise out of an image is trivial. But it does add an additional step to using an image for AI training (Usually just running the image through highrezfix or some shit) because adversarial noise fed directly into a training dataset can cause fuck ups in the Text Encoder. But for any experienced AI slopper, the JP artists just ruin their own art for their fans.

Yeah the only thing is that some of the alt arts are kind of low effort. The stamps and Breaker are good examples, but some are just strange. Like the new Ecclesia alt art. Cartesia and the Ecclesia you play in Swordsoul got incredible alt arts but the girl herself has what could be confused for a screenshot from the anime, and not even a particularly impressive scene. This was announced shortly after the new Dogmatika support, so it was especially jarring to see a premium alt art look so bland compared to the honestly amazing artwork for Fleurdelis the Thunderous. Then you have the oddball alt arts. The Live twin take on Called by the Grave doesn't evoke the feeling of the original card at all. If anything it reminds me more of Foolish Burial.

It's a redraw, you can tell because there's extra detail on her armor and the lighting is different, plus more of her torso is shown in accordance with card art boxes having a different aspect ratio (16:9 versus basically a square). It's a lot of effort for something that ironically ends up looking low effort. Yugioh cards, particularly the Albaz lore, actually have a lot of great dynamic poses or action shots, meanwhile the Ecclesia alt art is just her standing on a balcony going :D

Ecclesia is running, she's got her hammer at the ready, the devastation of the fight against Titaniklad is in the background, and her hair/cloak is flowing in the wind. It's just a better card art and it tells the story of the Branded lore very well despite that lore just being a set of single images. I think the anime is good but there's a huge difference in what you need from a given visual when you have several minutes of continuous animation versus basically one-panel snapshots of what's happening at any given time.

It's actually a 2 deck format right now. Maliss and Ryzeal effectively invalidate everything else that has come out in the last year and a half, with the exception being Fiendsmith.
And it's going to stay that way for at least another 6 months.

Talents is an odd duck because I like the concept behind it (Having a powerful generic play maker that isn't a negate) but with the OCG style hand trap environment it can produce such horrible non-games. The existence of the Maxx C minigame as well as 2x Called By and 1x Crossout means there are a lot of times where you'll get a hand trap negated only for your opponent to Talents and take your starter/other interaction. Then they win because they have mostly perfect information and you're starting with a 4 card hand that just lost it's best card. I think this is more an issue with modern deckbuilding than the card itself. Thankfully Thrust searching a floodgate normal trap is mostly relegated to formats with side decking, so it's not as frustrating in Master Duel. They really ought to make a side-deck banlist for BO3 formats though.
