Bro this game is like 20 years old, all the white ppl moved to elden ring like 10 years ago and now the've all mvoed on again to nightreign. Online games like these have a short lifespan for non-psychotic normals

I fully blame ChaseTheBro for this although there might be others. He started out as a very good but legit player, then he started cheating more and more and he normalized it. First, it was Estus cancels if the enemy was also doing it. Fair enough. Then, he started using it and FAP ring switching to "even the odds" against ganks, but not just cleared-the-map-overleveled farming-invader ganks, but also basic bitch sunbro coop fren "ganks" who were just playing through the game normally. Then, he started using Cheat Engine or some other cheats to have an infinite resupply of Siegbraus, Blooming Green Blossoms, and Divine and Hidden Blessings, which he proceeded to abuse the hsit out of in every invasion. He used the same cheats to have a dozen catrings and a dozen of the most OP meta weapons so he could effortlessly quickswap to hardocunter whatever his (legit) opponents had. Then, he started using weapon swapping glitch (using an UGS with straightsword moveset) on the regular.

And the entire DS community just kept sucking his cock, made him THE Dark Souls 3 e-celeb, and suddenly, brazen fucking glitch abuse and using CE to have an infinite number of overpowered but limited items became the norm and now just about every dedicated PvP player does it while still having the sheer fucking audacity to not consider themselves cheaters at all.

DaS3 is the SWEATIEST souls game.

DaS and DeS were too stupid and cheesy to be this sweaty
ER has too much burst damage to let people sweat for too long
DaS2 was sweaty but not this bad and they mostly stayed in the arena

DaS3 has the perfect amount of survivability, tech, secret tech, jank glitches tech and hacker bullshit to invite the most crazy competitive cunts of the fanbase to it's online, and they are EVERYWHERE in the game.

Seriously though, calling them sweats is just harsh enough, when the entirety of high-level PvP revolves around using mods or Cheat Engine to have an infinite supply of extremely overpwoered items. One, is having at least one inventory row of all overpowered weapons to always quickswap to hardouncter what the opponent has. Two, is having an infinite resupply of overpowered but legitimately limited consumables. No matter how skilled someone is, there is no outplaying someone of equal or near-equal skill who does these, so the entire "sweat" community is on it. They are cheaters. Hackers, glitch abusers. I can't think of any other PvP game so throughly dominated by cheaters. Maybe GTA SA multiplayer comes close, but that's just fan made jank for a singleplayer only game. In any normal game, not made by good for nothing slant-eye hacks, these kind of people would have been permabanned years ago. In DS3, they get to play god.

Honestly im glad they were mostly put-off by ER's meta. Sure i wish we got 6 people pvp outside the arena and that the movesets were more varied and L2 in general wasnt as strong or cost waaaay more FP than it does now, but if this is the price to keep the loonies in their frozen gray bin that is pontiff's, im more than happy to take that trade.

Idk how it can be "out of fashion" when it literally does just one-shot most everyone and everything in the game up to NG+++. If you have slow or choppy internet then it's a guarantee free duel win because all you need to do is just run up and spam R1 and your attacks will register before the other person can roll, essentially stunlocking the opponent until death.

There's an anti-cheat mod for DS2 that also conveniently adds in infinite uses to the red eye orb and makes it work like invasions in Elden Ring (using it lets you queue for invasions everywhere).
With that i get basically instant invasions at all times of the day even today.

I think it's cool that someone made those for the Dark Souls trilogy but outside of DS3 I don't know why you would bother using that. Some of the areas in DS1 and 2 were deliberately designed to be solo.

Okay so there is that one way to get people banned from Dark Souls 3 online by forcefully injecting illegal items into their inventories. Lots of malicious hackers did that to get innoccent people banned. But how the fuck did NOBODY use that to go full vigilante and dish out the well-deserved bans to actual hackers running around with infinite iframes, curse daggers and such, who would never be caught by the game's nonexistent anti-cheat otherwise? When DaS3 hacking was at it's peak everyone in the community would tell newcomers to backup ALL of your saves before going online so that you wouldn't lose more than 30 min of playtime to a hacker and to use the same family sharing trick along with the anti-cheat mod to have multiple layers of security from being fucked with.

Also had the bottomless box glitch which meant you could roll a new character with fully upgraded gear and enough souls to get to 90 within minutes.
