I fully blame ChaseTheBro for this although there might be others. He started out as a very good but legit player, then he started cheating more and more and he normalized it. First, it was Estus cancels if the enemy was also doing it. Fair enough. Then, he started using it and FAP ring switching to "even the odds" against ganks, but not just cleared-the-map-overleveled farming-invader ganks, but also basic bitch sunbro coop fren "ganks" who were just playing through the game normally. Then, he started using Cheat Engine or some other cheats to have an infinite resupply of Siegbraus, Blooming Green Blossoms, and Divine and Hidden Blessings, which he proceeded to abuse the hsit out of in every invasion. He used the same cheats to have a dozen catrings and a dozen of the most OP meta weapons so he could effortlessly quickswap to hardocunter whatever his (legit) opponents had. Then, he started using weapon swapping glitch (using an UGS with straightsword moveset) on the regular.
And the entire DS community just kept sucking his cock, made him THE Dark Souls 3 e-celeb, and suddenly, brazen fucking glitch abuse and using CE to have an infinite number of overpowered but limited items became the norm and now just about every dedicated PvP player does it while still having the sheer fucking audacity to not consider themselves cheaters at all.
