In MGS3 he looked a lot like his mom actually. Kids rarely look like the perfect blend of both parents, much more often they resemble one parent more than the other and I've seen it many times

There's no reason to make his parentage more obvious. The game makes it perfectly clear without that and nothing is gained from being able to guess it.
What the change does do is detract from his image as more fresh-faced, more green than the rest. That was an important thing because it helped to obscure his true role, you wouldn't expect just a kid like that to have his fingers in every pie around.

My problem is WHY. Why is he the only character that got a complete redesign, and looks nothing like the original?

Konami was faithful with everyone's interpretation, but with Ocelot they just replaced him with a different person.

The original Ocelot held a neutral face for 98% of his face, this one always grins like the fucking joker which also changes the delivery of his lines and his personality.

I don't get why he is the only one that got changed. He was a fan favorite. He was MY favorite. This legitimately ruined my week.

It is interesting that the Delta version is definitely a completely different character, even if he has the same lines, with the exact same delivery even.

By changing his facial structure and his facial expressions they managed to create someone that barely resembles MGS3 Ocelot.

I am not even shitting on the game by saying this. Just saying that it is impressive how it is possible. The human mind is truly astonishing.

On PS2 they could have gotten away with it but now with the higher fidelity graphics they can't just let him be literally a different looking person.

Your facial structure changes as you get older. You get a bigger chin, your jaw moves forward. The differences between Young Ocelot and Old Ocelot are all reasonable, maybe just a little exaggerated but not to the point you'd need to make such dramatic changes.

I think people forget both Young Ocelot and Old Ocelot were designed by Yoji Shinkawa, who is also the art director of all mainline MGS games. He is extremely competent and respected. He designed Old Ocelot first. Then he thought "How would this guy look younger?" and decided Young Ocelot. He was not oblivious to the differences between their designs, these differences were intentional, and Konami disrespected his design.

More like devs. Each subsequent re-release made the filter less prominent, I don't even think it's still possible to buy a digital version of HR with the old vanilla filter.

Also, most of the assets in the game are already yellow so it's not like you're shifting the overall tone by swapping palettes. You're just allowing the few other colors to emerge from the piss.
