The multiplayer managed to be even worse for that, they pulled an honest-to-god "we want the CoD audience" and replaced the tried and true arena shooter formula with custom classes and fucking perks, then on top of that they locked basic features such as being able to pick up grenades dropped by dead players and the Warthog's chaingun not being complete dogshit behind the perk system. Also you could choose to spawn with plasma grenades and the Forerunner pistol with the shotgun charged attack that oneshot players at point blank range, so you can image the clusterfuck that resulted from that.

However I will begrudgingly give them credit for making detached turret guns in multiplayer not dogshit after they were basically completely pointless in both Halo 3 and Reach.

Oh, I almost forgot that they removed all weapon spawns from the map and instead turned power weapons into fucking killstreaks that you called in after getting enough points or whatever. Then a couple of months in after everyone (rightfully) bitching about how completely dogshit that system was they released a new map that had a rocket launcher spawn in the middle and acted like they'd come up with some daring and innovative new feature never before seen in Halo for doing so. God Halo 4 was such shit.

Halo 4 had a few good aspects, but they weren't enough to make up for the whole package.
>AR was good, while not being overtuned like it is in 5 and Infinite
>Could crouch and move at the same time
>Extraction is the only objective mode that worked well in 2v2
>Expanded multiplayer scripting, including the ability to modify weapon stats on retail games
But of course, for every one of those you had bullshit like no descope, x-ray vision, and the sprint toggle being an option ingame but entirely inaccessible to the player

I've heard that the fluff of Halo says that Humanity is better at ground combat while Covenant rules space combat. What makes human ground forces better, the fact that the covenant only deployed small strike forces for artifact excavation?

Probably because a planet full of humans has massive amounts of soldiers and military infrastructure. You can only bring so many soldiers and vehicles on a space ship.

The Covies never innovated, they just found forerunner shit and did shitty jobs of replicating it. The humans built and innovated all of their own stuff and kept that creativity throughout the war instead of stagnating like the Covies who hadn't fought an actual threat in thousands of years, so they lost whenever they couldn't just brute force things. With equal tech and numbers the humans would have won every fight.

If it can cross country at jogging pace and you can keep it running cheap, then it's actually a pretty good design for an armored vehicle intended to support infantry. Just look at the M3 Lee/Grant.
40k is retarded in many ways, but stealing deigns from WW1/2 model kits is probably the least retarded thing about the armor in that setting.

The Covenant are shit at strategy and coordinating, and while i don't know realistically how this would influence combat, it's pretty much that every race in the Covenant hated each other

you didn't play halo 2.
the problem was that the foundation of their religion was a DEATH CULT that would have genocided all sentient life, AND they were cutting out the elites to give the brutes a more dominant role.
THAT was the fault of the Master Chief exclusively.

They didn't even bother with tactics because their navy and army were decades ahead of anything the UNSC could field. That and humanities population is small.

>tfw no gritty Halo Marine game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLDM2S7jUT4
Imagine the kino. IIRC in the lore normal elites didn't even have shields, it's just that MC fights the very best, most well equipped covie forces in the games. Imagine then, a Harvest game. You are a marine and even a singular elite is a challenge to take down, but he doesn't have shields only his armour so it's still possible.

I've seen literally one halo mod actually use innies, and it was one level but it was pretty cool at least.
Human enemies in halo are super under-explored and I hate it.
At least they kinda sorta exist in halo wars 1 guarding expansion bases?

It would be funny to have a game that starts with UNSC vs Innies before Covenant show up and both sides going "Oh fuck".
I love the detail that a lot of innies don't actually think the Covenant are a real thing and are UNSC propaganda before a cruiser flies over their outposts in certain Halo stories.

Human enemies are unexplored because they'd be boring. There is a reason the Covenant all use weapons with travel time.
