Queers of War was never good

GoW was never a PC-first franchise. Marketing "cross play" as a feature - that console players can disable btw - just doesn't add up to that.
And graphics aren't better. Models do look cleaner, but the original artistic direction, dark and grim environments, is dead gone.

As someone pointed out on steam discussion forum, game is DoA, despite cross play.

At least on PC it’s DOA. I’m usually the only steam player in a lobby. There are way more PS players than there are steamers. I think PC gamers are asocial faggot pansies. They only play single player twitch games and co-op. I tried looking for Warzone matches of gears before buying it but all I could find were achievement hunting fags and streamers. It's still just Gears of War 1 again. This is the second time they have remastered it. And if I hadn't gotten this for free from owning the one they did 10 years ago, I wouldn't have even bothered with it. The only mode worth a shit in these games is horde and the first one never had it. I noticed that as well. I really think they fucked it up. The gore and blood feels toned down and the weapons all sound and feel weaker. Also, the chainsaw executions and squadmate AI definitely never used to be this janky. The chainsaw never connects with the enemy in this and Dom/Cole/Baird are constantly standing around in the open getting killed instead of taking cover.

Gears of War never had good multiplayer. Ever. It was low skill garbage where everyone tries to joust with the obnoxious shotgun and no other weapon can really compete. This series had decently fun campaigns, and the awesome horde mode. But they didn't include that here because the original never had it. There's no point in buying or playing this again. I'm sure the handful of retards who still think this series is fun are just playing 5 still instead.

It was objectively a fun game for 2006, but feels very dated at this point. I got this remaster for free, played a couple of hours, and uninstalled out of boredom. Rule number 1 is that it's not a cover shooter in multiplayer. Never stop moving. Learn how the magnetism to the walls works. You will get a feel for the gnasher in enough time. Try a mode with respawns like Blitz so you spend more time alive than spectating until you have experience to play execution.

I played GoW 1 (og) a few months ago and it was incredibly mid. Boring corridor cover shooter with bullet sponge enemies and bullshit mechanics. I'll give a few tips
1. Think of the Lancer as a support weapon, not something you're gonna be racking up kills with(at least in gow1). It's for covering teammates, long range damage/harassing, and good for flanking too. Now if you have a active reload the lancer will start doing damage

2. Movement is important, sliding into walls or cover and what not is something you'll see people do to move around quicker, or to make them harder to hit in a fight. Like if someone shoots with their gnasher, slides into a wall, shoots again, it makes them harder to hit. With the gnasher, just trying to move between shots and not just stand there shooting. You don't need to do any crazy wall bounce movements, just keep it moving

3. The gnashers damage is based off a pellet system, if you shoot a wall you'll see it's spread, it has like 8 or 9 pellets iirc. The more pellets hit the more damage it does, which is why sometimes you just one shot blast someone, and other times it feels like they're eating it. Sometime just 4 or 5 pellets will hit so it won't do all the damage. Something to keep in mind

In addition to what other anons have told you a few tips:

-Really pay attention to audio. If someone active reloads near by and they are the COG then they'll say "fuck yeah" and locusts will laugh. If you hear that then you know the enemy is near, likely waiting to ambush since they say you. Also you can hear breathing of the characters if they are roadie running. This is useful if you hear panting from behind you know they are closing the gap and likely going to shotgun you.

-Memorize the map and spawn locations for the weapon drops. In regards to the maps there's always an element of having the high ground for the most advantage. You can often shoot enemies and chip away at them if they are below you in cover.

-Use your smoke grenades if you are pinned down and want to retreat or change position or maybe even go for a super weapon.

-Generally always aim for the head or upper collarbone area with weapons. The damage system in Gears has always been a bit strange and headshots do massive damage. If you're using a gnasher and can line the shot up right then you get several pellets in the enemies head and that's instant death.

Looking at steam reviews it doesnt look like they fixed a thing even with beta testing. And the Ultimate Edition released 10 years ago was already a rough PC port.

PC players can't divide roll and cover, preventing them from competitive play. They have to fix this too.

For the rest, nothing wrong. It's great, even if I wish they remastered the one from the Xbox360 version.

But the most AMAZING thing, is that it's using UE3, and not that garbage of UE5.
I can't try 240hz, but I can try 144hz, and I have constant 144fps.

I am seriously worried about if they will UE5 for the remaster of Gears of War 2.
The only reason why they used UE3 it's because this is an almost copy/paste of Ultimate Edition, and ironically this gave us a game with great performance...

Real reason is because the Gears 1 was the one of the first games with a great mexican dub and everyone had a 360 due to how cheap it was. In the eyes of the mexican audience, every character from Gears is mexican, because the dub was just that good and fit perfectly with the game, it felt natural. That's the power of a good dub in Mexico, more often than not, something that's highly regarded has a great dub with it.

Reviews are because they removed split screen from marketing after the game released. Gears of War without splitscreen is retarded as fuck, the game was made with split screen in mind.

Actual problems with popularity is they exhausted Gears of War hype during the beta. Gears of War 1 multiplayer is shit, everyone in the beta either figured that out or remembered that. All that's left is the campaign and that's not going anywhere so there's no rush to play it.
Game will have more positive reviews when eday is nearer and people play through the campaign again.

Gears 1 was novel for what it brought to the industry in terms of TPS cover mechanics and all, plus that whole licensed song trailer that won a lot of people over and got awards or some shit, but as a game? It's pretty fucking dogshit compared to the sequels. The campaign plot is just "things happen" with a threadbare connective tissue and some questionable design here and there, the mechanics are at their least refined for obvious reasons, and the multiplayer is either "you're a gnasherfag and you fucking love it" or "you want to play this game like it's supposed to be played and die instantly to the gnasherfags for not playing it their way". i never liked gears as much as halo (or even cod) as a youngin, it was just a game me and another friend got on after everyone else stopped gaming for the day so we could mess around in coop campaign and horde, and it was fun for sure, but holy shit im playing through gears 1 now and its just terrible. every two fucking minutes interrupted and forced to slow walk so marcus can talk on the radio. gameplay is whatever; i don't know if it's just because we were shitters on controllers back then but mouse and keyboard makes laserbeaming enemies on this way too easy. maybe a good game to mute and listen to music or something but i'm not into that zoomer shit so idk.
