I think they *know* TES is their sacred cow and they absolutely cannot fuck it up. Fallout, they didn't create and only had one game under their belt when they made F4. They got high on their own fumes with the next gen consoles at the time and thought they'd be able to make a BioWare game hybrid. Starfield, was in dev hell for seven years, COVID fucked them up and the proc gen slop generator didn't work for years of development + Emil had to write a shit universe from scratch.
I'd like to believe TES6 won't fall so low, but I'm not naive: Kurt Kuhlmann left Bethesda a couple years ago after working there since 1996. He alongside Kirkbride came up with Tamriel's redesigned world and lore introduced with Redguard/Morrowind, and said Skyrim was the game he was the second most proud of after Redguard. William Shen, who joined in 2009, worked on games since F3 and rose to prominence after being Far Harbor's lead writer which made people hopeful of him replacing Emil, also left the company. Elder Scrolls VI will be the first TES since Daggerfall to not have Kuhlmann working on it, and Emil will still write its setting and main quest while Todd is getting older and older. So at this point, who the fuck knows.
