Any army should have no real difficulty with xenos, barring the extenuating movie circumstances that cause the plots of each movie.
In 1 and 4, they're on space ships so the acid blood melting the hull is a lethal threat. Guns are unacceptable.
In 3, the inmates are unarmed.
In 2, the marines are fully equipped to fight them but underestimate the threat and give up 95% of their arsenal before the first engagement, because they're fighting inside nuclear reactor that could explode if they shot its cooling tanks accidentally.

Fighting xenos with any kind of pre-prep is actually not difficult at all, assuming you have a gun to shoot them with and no plot reasons preventing you from shooting them.

Xeno durability is super inconsistent throughout all AvP/Alien media. In stuff like the original Alien movie and Alein: Isolation, the drone xeno was super durable and hard to kill. In some of the other games and movies the drones were squishy bugs easily taken out by bullets. Since the whole concept of the xenomorph plays off the idea that they're the "ultimate life-form" I think that the original Alien and Alien: Isolation drone is the true xenomorph.

Any military honestly. Not even counting nukes.

Xenomorph are a problem when sent to a place without organized resistance like a space colony or random fuck space ship with 12 people on board.

Depends on the size of the infestation but as a rule, almost any organized force past the level of medieval military arms, could in theory defeat xenomorphs because they are just giant bugs. People treat them like they are some sort of extinction level threat when they are actually just large, dangerous and cunning parasitic wasps. It is the circumstances in which they are encountered in the films that make them so lethal, be it in a space ship or a colony that has no real organized military presence.

This is the point in time where the groups have just started. The girl and her kind are highly illegal first of their kind and not even known to exist. The rest are also illegal I believe...except maybe androids are semi-legal but the bladerunner ones are still. And the issue is, xenomorphs violate laws of the universe (acid blood - are they made out of teflon?, violation of laws of conservation of mass - do they actually eat anything?, super detection and psionic/telepathic link). On top of that, there is an issue of viral particulate, whereby even stuff like artificial blood that androids use (that milk) can be the medium to grow an egg or transfer viral particles.
Xenomorphs are a biological weapon, and its purpose is total extermination. So no, you cannot allow yourself to underestimate the danger.

IIRC in one of the OG drafts of the story, the Xenos were effectively adolescents in the life-cycle of the Space Jockeys. The species as a whole understood that in order to survive they need to separate their ultra-violent adolescents until they can mature into adults and be productive members of society, so ships like the derelict were sent off with eggs to be dropped on inhabited world whereby the cycle can begin without causing damage to the Space Jockey society. Once the Xeno had matured into adulthood they could be scooped up and brought home. Now that's way too much to cram into a 90min film about a creepy alien serial killer in space, but the threads of it were there.

I read a bunch of the older Aliens comics and novels when I was younger, and from memory they were fairly durable/bulletproof unless you were using AP ammo. I recall a scene from the comics basically saying that the M4A4 Pulse Gun is really the only thing in the Colonial Marines arsenal which can pop a xeno, and even then it takes half a mag to drop one.
But as with anything, the writers will write what suits the story they're trying to tell.

The modern MIC would, as the secondary antagonists did in the aliens franchise, try to control or weaponize xenomorphs and it would, like in the movies, fail spectacularly. They went in cocky because to them it was just another bug hunt. By the time they understood these things bleed acid and nest like insects but think like hunters, it was already too late. Hell, Vasquez and Hudson held their own even without pulse rifles for most of the fight. Not bad for a squad going in basically blind.

I have read some of the comics that (formerly) were supposed to be the official follow up to the movies. They STILL require humans to be comically retarded in their intentions with an obviously violent species that will kill them given the opportunity. Whether it's the retard general who believes he can use them to attack other xenomorphs when they took over Earth. Or literally every other cross over with Predator or solo where Weyland-Yutani keeps trying to weaponize them and failing. If even a single group just stopped trying that, they'd be a non-issue. Saying "read a book" and the books are all "we tried to weaponize the horrible space alien" then there's not much point to reading the book now is there?
