Sony invested 3.8 or so billion dollars into Bungie, and they listened to Bungie when they said that TLOU2 Factions wouldn't be good. To make matters worse, Destiny 2 is dying a slow death and they've already invested $100 million or so into Marathon's reboot. They will give the company one last chance before the studio permanently dies a painful death.

Sometimes, consolidation is bad, but the Bungie purchase was probably one of the only times where it was a net positive. Sony has a habit of making good shit but failing to market it or understand its potential. Helldivers 2 could have been much, much bigger than it is/was if Sony hadn't tried pulling their PSN bullshit. Vita was great hardware mismanaged. TLOU 2 factions is the killer app they chose to kill. Kpop Demon Hunters is a movie they sold to Netflix for peanuts which has become a phenomenon outside of Sony's control.

I thought you were joking because I know that Sony makes deals with Netflix so they can stream Sony licenses but I didn't think they actually sold the IP. DMZ in mw22 was kind of neat for 2 seconds. Devs havent realized that there are fps players who prefer shit like slayer or CTF (halo) domination or hard point (cod) or conquest (BF). They've been doing closed playtests for a few months now, nobody knows how those are shaping up due to NDAs.
They also probably have some intern scouring theough every texture in the game and removing the stolen assets.
Other than that, who knows. Bungie is kind of fucked anyway, the latest D2 DLC was panned by both critics and players so they don't even have that as a fallback. It may be do or die for them on this trainwreck.
