I feel like this doesn't actually happen a whole lot, especially for non-PvP games. Pretty sure there were plenty of skippable releases since they no doubt understand the pattern of save and splurge.
But for nearly all gatcha games, power creep is literally part of the monetization scheme. You release new characters that are marginally stronger to keep people buying the new thing. And then sometimes you release something that's broken so you can re-run it in a cycle of rotating options.

But what would even be the better design? The ability for 1.x characters to clear all content for the entirety of the game's lifespan? Like 90% of the content in these games come from the characters. Quest, level and enemy designs aren't particularly deep and don't add a lot of content, so without using new characters these games would become very stale content wise very fast.

Most other games can get around this either through having proper character progression, introducing new levels and enemies, or having quests that are actually fun to go through. Obviously the gacha monetization poisons the game design, but I'm not sure what players who complain about powercreep actually want. The ability to not engage with the actual new content that releases for the game? The ability to continue to use characters that you like? I would also like to stick with characters that I like, but as long as the main monetization for these games is through selling characters then these games will always have crippled design.

This is the most fucked up part for me. People spend hundreds of dollars or thousands of dollars and all they get is less than a hour of gameplay a day.

/v/ used to shit on the AAAs that cost like $80 and had maybe 15 hrs of content tops while games like these have 5~ minutes of gameplay on the average day and 3~6 hrs of content on patch day. Nevermind that patch day is every 50 days or so too.

For value, gachas definitely are a win win for me because I can play them super casually, get a bunch of free shit every month, and the community is always thriving and producing fan content.

I guess that's fine. the other reasons are pretty shallow though, but I get the mechanical simplicity angle I guess as I quite like the Yakuzas despite their relatively simple combat mechanics compared to other action games, but Yakuza is more of an evolution of beat em ups, which complexity wise Yakuza has Final Fight beat. Never played any DoA game before as I'm a 2D fightan fag, but I did like P4A and DBFZ, though the auto combo stuff in those games wasn't just there for mashing but had some mid level mechanical application, like doing air combos in FighterZ pressing 5LL would move you up because auto combos had a property where they'd adjust your positioning to ensure the full sequence could be more likely to complete, so you could get a slight extension after doing a second air launcher. but as a casual tool I totally get the appeal of auto combos, people who don't wanna learn sequences can just pick their favorite gokus or purseowners and just mash to get a simple combo

I think enemies always had defense values and you could mitigate that by increasing your PEN value. Rupture agents don't need PEN as their rupture damage just completely ignores defense. Other than that, I don't see a difference as of now. And it wasn't even that bad, but now we know from the beta, that they will just increase defense on new enemies to make everyone else a little worse

My discs are actually below average, and while I do use Astra and Trigger, both excellent limited S rank characters, I have no dupes for either, and Astra doesn't even have her signature weapon. The powercreep could certainly be a lot worse, and I think they might try to keep the limited S ranks useable, considering the massive rework Ellen got.

I also tried genshin last year or maybe two years ago already since a friend convinced me to play it, that one was more brutal since I think I lost almost every 50/50 and got mona every time
that one was disheartening because as a new player you want to get the new characters everyone was trying to get, but I kept getting mona so I just stopped playing. At least with zzz I was playing since day 1 so losing 50/50s don't matter that much, I was still getting characters, but I get live service fatigue easily

Disorder is when you trigger an Anomaly status ailment, on an enemy who was already under the effect of a different Anomaly (same elements don't count, unless it's Miyabi or Yixuan who have special Anomaly, but they still do regular elemental damage). That triggers the remaining DoT from the previous Anomaly effect as a burst damage.

Polarity Disorder is a mechanic unique to Yanagi. Whenever she hits an enemy suffering from Anomaly status ailment of any element with her EX Special, it triggers a Polarity Disorder. She does not need to fill the Shock Anomaly gauge for that, or the enemy can be already Shocked. It just counts as if a Disorder was triggered, but it calculates the damage differently. In particular that works in synergy with Miyabi's passive, which lets her gain two stacks whenever a Disorder is triggered. Either regular or Polarity Disorder works. But there are also things like boss mechanics during DA for example, when the enemy takes additional damage if you inflict Disorder on them.

There's also Polarity Assault, unique to Alice. I didn't look too closely at her skills, but I believe it's a special effect on her charged Basic Attack. It doesn't have its own Anomaly gauge, like normal Assault, it just 100% triggers on her charged attack, and it can proc Disorder even with Assault Anomaly. And after that it clears the Anomaly effect on the target (provided it survives), letting you to start accumulating Anomaly again. So it enables Alice to do mono physical Anomaly and proc Disorder off her own Assault.

Instead they swung the entire other way, so now most of the story is just them talking to NPCs, with no dynamic events like the train crash or haunted tower. Perfect example is Sanby who has good version of her own outfit and that version is Twiggy or Mute Clone. They are simple to the point.
