They added a chapter 2 to the story of what I glanced on the website of the devlog, not sure what that means.

I bought the game a day ago I'm on my first playthrough. I had to learn the hard way a storm rolled over my dirt hut and extinguished all my pit kilns with clay items in them.

I'm reading the handbook mostly. I had to search up how to find ore and the only thing I've gotten from the internet is that ore deposits have small rock spawns on top to indicate its below because for the life of me I could not figure out how to find the ore.

But I didnt make a hammer first for my first copper item so now I have to find another deposit and I cant even break the copper chunks I mined.

Nice quads.
Yeah, ore seems more complicated than it is really.
But, it's relatively intuitive once you figure it out.

It's important to note that certain ores only spawn within certain rocks. And so you first need to locate that type of rock if you want to find the ores that occur within it.

Because its not minecraft. It has many systems that are unique and is coded in c# I think. The point is it has one click modding API and isn't limited to minecrafts assets.

Mods in minecraft can only go so far because its by block, not voxels. You'll still be playing minecraft at the end of the day. For example Better than wolves which is similar all uses minecraft items and minecraft concepts, It's restrained by minecrafts framework. It can't really be unique.

I heard that the Dev's were going to focus on adding steampunk-y style stuff next for energy and machines, god I hope so, you need a boatload of windmill sails just to get a single machine working at a decent pace.
Would love to be able to recreate some of the tech from the games first chapter at home, have a boiler of some kind powering gas lamps all across my base would be great - would give some of the mostly useless ores a use too.

The dev is supposedly going to be prioritizing that - there was an interview he did after he hired a handfull of devs from the Hytale dev team to work on Vintage Story - supposedly they'll be working on revamping combat and adding in an action/adventure focused secondary gamemode.

Why does this need to happen. Why cant they just focus on adding more systems like fishing, more world structures and stuff like bandits?

There's traders obviously so why not hostile NPC's? The world doesn't feel that dangerous once you avoid bears. I know they added the things that shoot spikes at you but its not enough.

Spear thrust sucks ass, may as well use a falx. Spear throw uses too much durability, wasting multiple slots for more spears.
Blackiron sword and steel falx are very underwhelming endgame weapons.
Bow sway with shot spread is unfun. The hunter class does not improve this either.
Arrow loss is nonsense, especially when you are going out of your way to smelt them or, God help you, smith them. I don't care if the arrow shaft breaks; at least return the heads to stick on a new shaft.
Shields are worthless; I am not going to freeze myself in the middle of combat to have a chance for it to maybe do something.
Armor is heavily discouraged so you have to waste inventory slots carrying around a separate outfit so you don't starve while riding your elk to where you're going to fight.
Several armors only exists as a noob trap because everyone skips them for the easier to make superior armors, just like pelt backpacks.
Dev puts ruined great axes and other weapons in as clutter with no way to repair them while also having entire sets made from repairing ruined armor. Also not a single weapon short of bombs has multi-target hitting/cleave.

But then it's exactly because it gives so little reward that you can perfectly fine ignore it, and only do stuff like that when you're done homesteading and chiseling for five hundred horus and start to feel a little borad.

Please don't spend a retarded amount of hours in survival mode planning what you want to do.

Go practice in creative and try out asymmetrical houses, different styles, lengths and widths, different block colors, floor plans. Everything is a skill, that's how the human mind works. Nobody is truly gifted at something it all takes learning at some point from some source.

Don't expect to build a beautiful house when you have no skill in it.
