Wuwa has some of the best character writing I've ever seen in video games and the cast is extremely appealing. I'm not even shitposting. The characters aren't solely based on "I want to suck (your) dick" like in every other gacha out there. The game builds each of them a very distinct personality and life and goals of their own, while also making them lovable in their own way.

It makes no sense to criticize the story for being character-driven, when that's the hallmark of good writing. So many games try to get you interested in their elaborate plotlines and worlds, while the cast are just passive observers to whom shit happens, not active actors through which the setting is reflected. Wuwa is a masterclass on this.

The current story is great, though they could've properly telegraphed the Iuno being non-existent though. I only found out about it by talking to a random NPC.

Several of the female heroics all have the exact same story plot with very minor changes.
Jinshi, Shorekeepers, Carthy and Augusta's story frame are all basically the same.
Meet up with character. Go find heroine of the patch, previous character leaves party. Spend some time with heroine of the patch and learn a bit of her tragic backstory. Go through the adventure together and showcase the heroine doing something amazing. Get to end, heroine must make some sort of sacrafice. Woops no they don't, Rover takes care of it. Big boss fight. Major exposition dump.

Rover is constantly moving forward to find answers; one region at a time. The characters she meets have no reason to follow her to the next region because their role is to protect the region they're in, or their role to assist Rover is done. Would I like for the other characters to return, yeah, sure. There are opportunities for Rover to return to Jinzhou or Rinascita for, I dunno, a summer event, a holiday event, or region-specific quest. The Moonglow festival was the only one so far and I would I agree with you that there should be more of these.

The story never revolved around Rover towing her giant harem to the next area because it's a story of a wandering warrior looking for answers, and we're still at the beginning of the story (yeah, no kidding, the game is technically just started). Maybe one day Rover will settle in some town like how Kenshin did, and find someone to protect. Though that said, Rover would end up going back to whatever she came from and return a few hundred years later with no memories. Phrolova called her out on it and that's a potential good story waiting to happen.

Straightforward due to infinite stamina outside of combat, a short air dash that is very useful than you realize, a wall run for faster traversal over walls or mountains. There are some traversal tools in the world like a jump pad, gust of wind so you can float, etc.. That said, in 2.X, most of those traversal tools are gone because of the flight mechanic.

1.0 story is average but serviceable. The game spends most of its time giving you the lore and stuff, but once you've reached 1.1 and onward, the story gets better. But the biggest upgrade you'll experience is the dialogue scenes have cinematography--camera angles, micro animations, and unique gestures that makes mundane dialogue between NPCs bearable to watch. However, this is mostly exclusive to companion and main quests (voiced quests).

So far there are only a handful of men in the game, and the ones that the game currently have are good with good stories. Only 3 male characters have companion quests. Yes, Xiangli Yao's quest is locked in a FOMO quest.

They don't know that, nor Rover is interested in telling them that. But Augusta knows about Rover stopping the Dark Tide by killing both Fenrico and Fractsidus Overseer Phrolova. Other than that, Augusta is already aware of Rover's abilities and exploits because she's been collaborating with the Black Shores during the hunt. If there's someone who can handle the Dark Tide, it's Rover.

Lupa broke free of the fate Cristoforo has written for her, and if you're going with meta narrative on this, Cristoforo wrote the story of the hunt as well, and didn't include Lupa in the story because he has his own creation--Avidius to fill in that role as main character. If anything, you should blame the dude for not including Lupa in the story.

i like the game but it has a lot of problems.
recent story was one of the worst directed they've done so far. they killed any potential of it being interesting with the blistering pacing shoving tons of exposition down your throat for four hours.
the actual plot developments are basically hidden among a sea of nonsense terms and characters standing around talking about what to do next. you'd have no idea iuno faded from existence if people didn't say it online based on one plot insignificant NPC's completely missable dialogue after the quest.
a lot of people still didn't realize cristoforo created avidius, even with him talking about it at the end. i saw people who thought he was talking about fucking rover in his monologue.

big step down from 2.5. it's like it had different writers, storyboarders and a different director.
