Because Apple helped fund the game's development so they'd have something attractive for their gaming platform. It apparently worked, hence why they keep funding Hardlight to put out updates, although at this point I'm sure there's just a skeleton crew left doing the occasional update here and there while the main devs work on a follow-up.

In most cases these types of exclusives only stay on Apple's platform for 2-3 years, so it'll likely get ported eventually. I feel like the last update that altered the XP grind to be less intentionally grindy (i.e., so people don't have to keep an ongoing subscription to Apple's service to unlock everything) was a preliminary shift towards that. Plus, Apple only sees Android as a direct competitor, so they don't care that if these games go to other platforms like consoles or PC after a certain point.

Paying a subscription service for a single half-game the rest of the slop on Apple's storefront doesn't even count as games seems like a bit much. One of the Apple Arcade games branched into an actual release (Hello Kitty Island Adventure) and the mobile aspects, even if they weren't even there on the original, just bog the game down. I don't know how you'd make a boring farming game a tedious game, but they did it.

This game is the Sonic CD of 3D Sonic. A sonic game that few people played because it was not easily accessible and the few people that played all parrot that the game was the best one.
Hopefully unlike Sonic CD it won't turn out that it actually was really overrated for what it was.
