There's a certain threshold of people you can kill just fine before the game shifts you to chaos though.
The idea is not that killing is le bad, it's that you are spreading the plague by piling too many bodies around.

I am not saying the system in itself is not flawed, but it does become pretty clear that the game is not meant to be played like an action battle system when for one, it's a stealth game, and for another the enemies die extremely easily the moment you use any power on them.
It doesn't mean, again, that they could not have it done it better.

Things in red murder people straight up, crossbow has 2 additional murder options, most of the rewire uses murder people too. 2 out of 4 enhancements also require you to murder people to be useful.

The only people who are with her is the Karnacan government and the spies in the city watch they had. The level design of 1 is pretty good but you can definitely tell it was ps3/360 game. Levels could feel pretty cramped and there were loading screens everywhere.
I'd love if they did another game and had each level as one large continuous area.

Funny thing is that in the Daud DLCs they give you a mine that stuns enemies and a smoke bomb that literally makes enemies forget you exist if you upgrade it which just made me wonder why the fuck weren't those in the base game because it would not only have introduced more non-lethal options which the main campaign desperately needed but instead of the lame and useless Devouring Swarm you'd also have the far more useful Pull power.

Because it makes sense narratively.
Corvo was just framed for the murder of his (secret) (not actually married) wife, who was the Empress of the country.
That means, all the soldiers were under her command. They chase and try to kill Corvo because from their point of view, he is an evil person who killed their beloved Empress. They are doing it out of loyalty.
So why would Corvo kill them? He's killing HIS OWN MEN.
You don't lose out on the good ending just from killing now and then, but for straight up massacring everyone you come across. You and the soldiers are on the same side, they just don't know it.
