I don't know if anyone else shares the same opinion but why do older games like Splinter Cell just feel more tactile to play? I don't know how to explain it but moving around and just doing things in this game feels way more satisfying than Conviction or Blacklist. I feel the same way about Gothic

Blatant cash grab. The last game came out 12 fucking years ago. Since then we've had SC dlc in half a dozen Ubisoft games, books, radio plays and now a tv show. Anything but a game.
Not to mention some of the old games are still broken or unavailable on pc.

These games used to get developed in 2-3 years tops and the devs had to make all the tools and assets themselves.
Now even with everything presetend on a platter to these devs these projects take anywhere between 5-10 years.

It's pretty sad

Blacklist may be a far cry from the original SC games but it was still a fun game with some good missions and it's the last Ubisoft product I ever bought along with Rayman Legends. I'm cautiously optimistic about a remake, especially if they bring back Ironside and Lambert's VA.

Yeah but only because i have the vain hopes of my favorite series coming back. Don't get me wrong I'm always cautious of Ubisoft spitting in my face with trying to make it like Conviction. I just want Splinter Cell to come back damn it.

They're not even using Unreal Engine for the remake, but snowdrop engine. The game engine The Division used, so who knows how that's gonna turn out in practice.

Much finer tuned control over aspects of your actual animation frames. This was emphasized because it is a proper stealth game, it was intentional. Perhaps not entirely realistic, yet it's also necessary. Probably something a modern animator cannot figure out how to make work properly. I hope I'm wrong that the remake will have been able to translate this into a modern engine.

There's something about the environments in SAR and PT that I just absolutely love. Chaos Theory looks good but I feel like there's just too much bump mapping, maybe? There's just something about the clean textures and surfaces with the originals that do it for me.

SC was the first game in the series that got pixel shader skins 3 so they wanted o show it off with bmp maps, reflective wet surfaces and mirrors.

Chaos Theory is the most accessible one imo, Splinter Cell 1 just needs a patch to fix shadows I think and that's it.
Pandora Tomorrow you can just get it for free out of I think it was moddb and it works just fine

Was a terrible choice. His brother played Master Chief and now this guy is going to play Sam, both characters who have iconic voices while these actors have some of the most bland, generic voices in the industry
