For those I haven't kept in contact with, there is a new atelier game coming out on September 27. It is a spinoff of the gacha set as an interquel during the same period time as a break in the action in the gacha story. There is a 6 man party, 2 new original characters as co-MCs and 4 legacy atelier characters, one of whom is Totori.I am extremely excited for it as it looks like it combines the incredible battle system of the gacha with the fantastic exploration style/mechanics of atelier yumia. As you can see, Totori made the cover!

I've been tempted to try that game again. I'm actually one of the poor souls who bought it day one on PS4To make a long story, my sister who doesn't play games got hyped for it and my surprise made me curious, which definitely backfired on me I returned it, only to buy it again on digital sale after Internet Historian's video out of sympathy. However, I didn't even touch NMS before selling my PS4. Buying the game for a third time would be ridiculous, especially when I technically still have the game on PS network. I own it only on PC, and very briefly at the start years ago when I first bought the game messed with mods, but I have been only playing it entirely vanilla recently so I can't really say too much on that front. That said, I've taken a perusing of the nexus mod popular page for the game, and while some mods there seem interesting enough, nothing spurs me to install them. It's mostly some QoL stuff and cheats, though some of the environmental mods might be nice. Honestly, If you are really interested in getting the game again, I'd get it on the platform you intend to use the most. I'm almost exclusively a PC gamer, so I get everything on it lol. If you are unsure, just check out the nexusmods page for the game and look around to see if any of the mods catch your fancy, then make a final decision from there.

Yeah, Bethesda games beget the need for mods, the vanilla experience is almost always lacking. On the contrary, I think the vanilla NMS experience is pretty good and doesn't warrant the necessity of modding it like Skyrim, especially after all the years of updates they've done.

It is incredibly annoying. So GFL2 has regular story stages ending in a final boss. Then there’s also challenge stages with the last one being a stronger version of the final boss. And, because I’m autistic, what I like to do is I’ll read an event story up to when the final boss starts, quit the stage, then beat the challenge stage final boss, then play the final story stage normally. The story stages are notoriously easy so I’m forced to play the challenge stage to give the story any degree of tension. But then the game also likes to timegate the challenge stages so I usually have to wait like an entire week to fight the challenge stage boss. It’s so fucking stupid. I remember Arknights does the same thing and it was annoying there too. You have to wait a whole week to unlock all the content and usually I don’t have enough time and energy to play those timegated stages when they eventually unlock. I kinda remember Honkai Impact doing that too, plus how grindy the events were in general. At least back when I played it like four years ago. I know gacha devs want to extend an event across the whole period it’s active so people don’t just beat everything in one day, but it just makes events so much more annoying when they’re supposed to be fun lil events to kick things up.

Yeah the content drip-feed is one of the most annoying things about gachashit. Back in the day i used to be pretty annoyed when a new patch dropped, because it only had 1/3 of the story unlocked form the get-go, so i had to wait for a whole week just to actually be able to sit down and enjoy it in full (and also avoid spoilers in the meantime), and then do the same thing again for the supplementary event (though with the added dailies, because of course the event also had to have those).

I still haven't "beaten" Hollow Knight despite having done like 96% of the completion scale. All I really need to do is get some endings, attempt some Pantheon stuff, and maybe kill Dream Zote.
I was scared beating it would put me into NG+ like Dark Souls 1.

I remember years ago I would lay in my bed and play the story stages and read the cutscenes before bed and I was so enthralled by the story and characters. Good times. Fuck all the grinding though. I think I got lucky with my pulls in XB2, I didn't really feel like I was grinding but I do have to say that the game itself could use a ton of QOL improvements. I did not enjoy having to mash through prompts just to roll in the gacha, they should have let us expend multiple in one go and auto discard the lower rarity Blades without having to micromanage. I also did not enjoy swapping out Blades to meet field actions/skill checks, but otherwise XB2 is kino.

I don’t rave about it much but Xenoblade will always be special to me. I had a friend who single-handedly convinced me to get a Wii-U just to play XBX, and it quickly became one of my favorite videogames ever. Then I played Xenoblade 2 when that came out and I also quite enjoyed it. To be honest, I haven’t really bothered with XB3 and I found XB1 was a bit too stressful for me, but XBX and XB2 will always be my go-to comfort games
