Silksong is a game made starting from the assumption that the first game was literally perfect. It fixed absolutely nothing that was wrong with the first game, because the devs thought there was nothing wrong with the first game. So everything that was bad in HK is doubled down on in SS. The map is too large and too hard to travel through, too much backtracking, enemies are hit sponges that take 10+ hits to kill even for the weakest enemies, there are no meaningful upgrades that actually make killing enemies faster etc.

The two major problems I have with the game are unfair damage numbers. I deal 1 damage to everything and they deal 2 damage to me. I have 5 hp and my heal only heals 3 hp. Secondly, I need to kill 50 bugs to get a map for each zone. I have to autistically farm for 30 minutes to an hour to get enough coins.

Other problems that I see, but I don't really care about are the limited slots and having your character and pins on the map. The other issue that I don't mind, but I'm sure others will complain about are the diagonal pogo.

The only frustration I agree with is Hunter's March being a bit much for being so early in the game. The game gets less brutal right after so I think it's just a little overdone with how much bouncing and spikes there are and how much basic enemies have.

The game just didn't click for me. But as someone who hasn't played through the whole of the first game either, there were some situations that really pissed me off.

The first thing that infuriated me was thepit right before the first town. If you fall into it you will fall right back where you started.

Even in the 90 minutes I have played I had to do a lot of blind jumps just to fall into spikes or other enemies. This is NES level of map design bullshit.

Benches are too far apart and even if you find one, you have to buy the ability to rest there with beads (which you will constantly lose because of deaths).

The dark souls type of running back where you died is annoying and the shitty map design will force you to get lost. Good luck getting back to the boss you just died to.
