Usually features the most popular characters or protags which is something most other Ninty IPs dont have.
What there is no argument for is to exclude an FE character for some other third party who is only partially tangential with Nintendo. Like Kazuya who as far as I'm aware is has not ever been on a Ninty console. At least Tekken 3 was on the gba but Kasuya wasnt.

It's a fog of war map that expects you to be rapidly advancing while also throwing enough enemies at you to overwhelm any one of your units so you basically have to chokepoint the gangplanks going across ships and be really cautious. It might necessitate sending both Seth and Duessel out to kill everything on the middle ship on Enemy Phase really quickly but even then I don't know if that would work once the reinforcements come. On turn 5 or so it spawns in over half a dozen Mogulls and about as many gargoyles, including the boss. They get thrown at you from three sides including the rear. I'm moving as fast across the map as reasonably possible given the circumstances and it just is not enough for the game's liking. It's ridiculous.

You know, let's just be honest, looking in on Smash it can feel like Fire Emblem gets preferential treatment. Sm4sh had Roy (who was the only real choice for a Melee vet after Mewtwo) and Corrin, the first blatent advertisement, while also tripling their reps from Brawl. Ultimate gave us Chrom (who i think people were begrudgingly fine with since they outright said "it's him or nothing," plus he had memes on his side), and then the second blatent advertisement for a game that didn't need it in Byleth. Meanwhile, Zelda has been stuck with two Links, really three now, Zelda/Sheik, and Falcondorf, but now he has Ike's smash attacks, since Melee. Midna and Skull Kid are right there. Heck, Hector is right there, throw him in to replace Roy and you instantly have a character that stands out from the rest of his series.
While I'm at it, Ultimate's dlc was trash outside of Banjo, maybe Terry.

I didn't even intentionally build Jean at all when I was initially setting up to do the FX maps, but I ended up bringing him to FX6 with Tiki because Martial Master is a useful class there both because of chain guard, and it allows access to the Fortify staff, which can be used to fully charge an Engage meter in a single turn if it hits enough targets. Combining this with Tiki's Divine Blessing gave me some rapid fire clutch play options. It's hard to PP the flyer reinforcements as I have no dancer/byleth and I can't see a reliable way to EP except to hector Louis and vantage Veronica citrine, which I don't have skill books for. Haha, yeah, that map is the first major hurdle. I honestly don't remember too many specifics to help with, but just generally: hunker down and hold on to your butts. Hold Out+ is your best friend, same with Unyielding and Divine Blessing. The area at the beginning is safest, while the area near Diamant is basically a death trap. Take the reinforcement waves one at a time, and don't be afraid to just keep pulling back if attacking is too risky. Diamant is so dangerous I had to pull him all the way back to the start before I could 'safely' put him down.
