They stayed best friends and never left his side. The short time they separated (after Centra and he got his throat ripped out, literally) they found each other, invaded Esthar to retrieve the kidnapped Ellone and they stayed there since they ended up leading the rebellion to kill the dictating tyrant witch Adel, and the rebellion begged Laguna to be their President to which he couldn't say "no."
Kiros and Ward are the two huge dudes in religious habits, all gowned up like green and brown nuns, if you didn't know.
More fun facts: before Laguna shipped as the Galbadian foot soldier he was, he and Julia Heartilly fell in love at the bar (where she was singing). He banged her that night at the hotel, then left and never saw her again. She wrote a love song for him that became world-famous "Eyes On Me".

In her depression, another Galbadian officer convinced her to marry him, so she did. They had a daughter together Rinoa Heartilly, Julia eventually died of loneliness and he became the Galbadian General.
Laguna, in his adventures, wound up in Winhill where he met another woman, Raine who was currently raising a girl named Ellone, who's parents were killed in an earlier raid by Esthar soldiers. Laguna and Rain marry and officially adopt Ellone. Esthar raids again, kidnap Ellone (found out to be a non-witch with ESP powers), and Laguna, Kiros & Ward leave to get her back. They succeed, but while Ellone gets sent back to Raine, the three buddies never return to Winhill. Raine turned out to be pregnant with Laguna's son before he left it's Squall, but she died shortly after his birth. The two get sent an orphanage run by Cid Kramer and his wife Edea you know her as "the Witch" possessed by Ultimecia.
So, yeah. There's A LOT of lore surrounding Loire. The solider buddies stay together forever.
