People have been talking about Silksong for years before it ever even came out. "oh it's gonna be so good" "oh my god it's delayed again" I swear I heard people hyping up Silksong more than I ever did anyone talking about Hollow Knight itself.
People will speculate and straight up make shit up about an upcoming release genuinely years ahead of time. A good chunk of them genuinely seem to enjoy that part more than actually playing the game once it comes out.
This is because talking about a game beyond giving it surface level praise or criticism (or just making shit up) requires an iota of thought and a fair amount of critical thinking to boot which most people aren't capable of.
That's why most discourse about video games comes across as mindless glazing or just relentlessly shitting on something, because most of the playerbase, self-proclaimed GAMERS are either incapable of understanding what they like about a given game, or don't know how to articulate it.
Point is: don't let the fact that you don't own the game stop you, most people don't, it shows and it's why most discourse surrounding video games is hot garbage.
