I know many people in my circle 20-30yo who play a lot of vidya but only on their phones and PC, mainly Gacha games and e-sport titles like LoL for low end devices. They're very involved in the culture, some even spend a lot of money on them, but contemporary consoles and console games are rarely being talked about.
Some of us still play a lot of "premium games" but are definitely a minority even in our gaming circles.

Mid 30s here. Can confirm. I will never give a shit about hardware or specs and the fact that PC gaming gave up on physical media altogether was enough to deter me away from ever using that platform. I've kept up a PS+ subscription for past decade. I rarely play online games anymore. The appeal of it nowadays is mainlyfor the games that come with the sub. The fact that online play is required for one is something that I rarely ever consider.
