You were a power-hungry piece of shit who betrayed everyone and everything to achieve immortality through cyber-necromancy. Your mind broke apart with guilt at some point and now you live in a schizo parallel world trying to find the one way you could've made things right, but you can't as you've separated parts of yourself into opposing archetypes which dominate the major forces of Schizostan.

It's implied that it was a combination of wallowing in animalistic bloodthirst, the effects of the Black Damocles and guilt over leaving Circe hanging out to dry in the yew tree. The game doesn't actually give out one simple cause and effect, rather it's a yarn of possibilites that might as well have all happened.

I understand your perspective.
Nevertheless, you can't keep updating a game forever. It's as you said, the VtM:B unofficial patch still gets updates.
You can potentially keep fixing bugs forever, but at some point you've gotta move on and make your next project instead.
Also, some issues sometimes require building the whole thing again from the ground up, and then the new version will have new bugs like so many remakes out there.

Sol niger
The black sun as pictured in the Putrifaction emblem of Philosophia Reformata (Johann Daniel Mylius)

Sol niger (black sun) can refer to the first stage of the alchemical magnum opus, the nigredo (blackness). In a text ascribed to Marsilio Ficino three suns are described: black, white, and red, corresponding to the three most used alchemical color stages. Of the sol niger he writes:

The body must be dissolved in the subtlest middle air: The body is also dissolved by its own heat and humidity; where the soul, the middle nature holds the principality in the colour of blackness all in the glass: which blackness of Nature the ancient Philosophers called the crows head, or the black sun.

β€”Marsilius Ficinus, "Liber de Arte Chemica"[3]

The black sun is used to illuminate the dissolution of the body, a blackening of matter, or putrefaction in Splendor Solis,[4] and Johann Daniel Mylius’s Philosophia Reformata.[5]

It wasn't a joke when I told you to start reading Plato, because EyE does feature non pop-culture psychological and philosophical themes. If you are already familiar with them, it won't awe you of course, but if you aren't, you will not even notice them without being able to recognize the concepts. It's the double edged sword of being well-educated, you start to take your education for granted and marking everything as "not so deep", even though the work is actually great. A mark of cynicism, also frequently employed by the uneducated to appear more intelligent than they really are, parroting the behavior without knowing where it comes from.

It's really not that complicated. But if you want to do it without someone else telling you what happens and what's happened, you'll need to do a fair bit of in-game reading and exploration to get certain NPCs. The question is, why bother revisiting this game from 2011? The story isn't so good as to warrant a revisit if you never finished it before, I promise. It's a good game at the very least.
