I've been loving the event for the sheer number of traps it lets me play with. A good trap thinks steps ahead.
Unless you're trying to just slow a pushing enemy down, putting them by a sliding door is usually pointless as it gives them time to see it. Similarly, regular doors and windows gives them pause to actually open it and look inside. The best spot is right under an open window they can quickly vault over because they both don't have that pause to naturally check and they might think they're exposed to being shot as they walk up to it. Same for hoppable fences at the compound perimeter. Even a stealthy player will often rush when it comes to vaulting over things.
Multiple alert trips chained towards a red barrel are often good. Most players will avoid walking next to a barrel out of habit, but a second trap will still keep them in the radius of a fatal explosion. Likewise, concertina traps by green barrels will kill even more effectively than a poison trip AND release the bess on a nearby partner. Also, if you're doing a concertina poison combo inside a compound, having them near an oil lamp adds fire if the concertina breaks the lamp.
Also, don't underestimate alerts by themselves. Sometimes the small bar of health they char off is enough to win a fight, and the noise they make is good audio camo to reposition.

That's the best spot. There's so much clutter there that it's really hard to see. Inside the hideout is too obvious and covered enough that they can safely disarm them.
