The fencing masters of the medieval period frequently wrote to the effect that advanced techniques don't work on unskilled "buffalos" because they don't understand what they're doing and they don't know they're actually suicidal. Just made it to platinum with my first character(started at rookie), the game is steadily becoming less fun with each rank I climb. Also holy shit Modern is extremely unfun to play against, at least in Iron and Silver 90% of the people I matched up with were using Classic

Against modern, basically just don't jump in unless it's 100% confirmed, and respect whatever supers they have, because they can come out INSTANTLY.
You're gonna see Modern all the way up through Master rank, you just have to play around it really. In Platinum, you can still play a patient, reactive playstyle. It gets more fun for sure in higher ranks, even moreso if you have irl or Discord friends to play against.
NOTE: these friends have to be either

If you get a scrubby friend that complains a lot, it's incredibly exhausting to play against them. I had a friend like that, who would complain about certain normals and stuff even while he was winning. We don't play fighting games anymore.

Honestly I don't even really grasp what it means for a move to be confirmed, I've never played any fighting game before SF6, I pretty much just do combo trials and play by ear. The way I approach playing Modern in is thinking that that, if even with automatic specials, automatic supers and automatic combos they're STILL at a shitter rank they're probably not gonna be very good and won't be able to deal with some cheesy tactic like spamming fireballs, spamming DI or grabbing them over and over. So far it's been working more often than not

Casual queue is the closest you can get to the Arcade experience, maybe you will be challenged by a beginner playing his very first match or maybe you'll get matched with Master rank players, as far as I can see there is absolutely no kind of filter there in terms of skill level.
It seems to be a popular mode with Master players who are maybe getting too long queues in ranked mode.
