As someone slowly chipping away at retro games via two different chinkhelds, I think I've cracked the code:
>new games are more consistent, but bland as hell, are made in some generic engine, and have very few personal touches
>old games are WAY less consistent in quality (and quality control), but often have way more personal touches and little quirks
Not saying all new games are bad and all old games are good, but really, something's definitely been lost over the decades.

Remakes and sequels. It's happening in movies too, the only way anything sells is if it's a sequel to something that already has a fanbase because new shit is so ass nobody cares, then they burn up the old fans with the New Thing and move on. (I'm looking at YOU, Star Wars.)

Nothing ever changes, Anon. The country went Red Blue Blue Red and nothing happened, the only thing that changed is how the media talked about whoever's at the driver's seat.
For anyone that actually paid any attention, man, the softballing Bdien got compared to Tmrup was incredible, I saw CNN was so mad about Turmp that they actually edited footage of him to make him neon orange, which is where I think most of the Cheeto stuff came from, they made him practically glow.
It took all the way until the very fucking end before they finally took their foot off the gas pedal for Beidn and were finally forced into admitting he's old and senile as fuck after he fell down the stairs like five times and kept forgetting important people/events.
Meanwhile the media ends up doing a 4-hour report about the psychology of a man getting two scoops of ice cream when everyone around him got one.
