It’s a good game but it is incredibly frustrating because they made contact damage ridiculous. So now you have all this speed and mobility but you can’t actually use it because you will virtually always touch the boss too close, even when doing a charge attack. And contact damage against bosses does 2 damage.

Other than that it’s a solid game. Definitely challenging but it makes you git gud.

As a millennial who grew up with the game, you're correct. What OoT really had going for it at the time was simply being revolutionary for what it was. Namely a massive 3D game taking advantage of brand new tech in gaming. As an overall experience, it's still quite good, but it's not perfect, and its status as a perfect game only weakens over time simply due to the age of the game and the constant progress of gaming. I think Silksong mostly deserves the praise it's getting right now, but just like OoT, it's not perfect, and it will not hold up to scrutiny as the years go by.

To me, you're talking low resolution sprites. Silk is high resolution modern comic style art sprites. We haven't had low resolution since the ps1 really. N64 can be very easily upscaled on emulator to remove pixelness. You can't do the same with MGS1 or other games on the PS1.

There's really no other popular game that fails at being a turn based game harder than parryshart 33 does. The devs put all their time, at least as far as the critical path for the main quest goes, into encounters that never put you into any compelling situation where you have to deal with interesting or memorable turn based strategies on the part of the enemies. the game is a solid 8/10 for me. my only real issues are the fetch quests where you have to grind enemy spawns, some that are required for progression and it kills the momentum for me.
i feel as if the people who are rating the game a 10/10 haven't gotten that far into the game.

No, it's a fucking 2D platformer released in 2025. It's not innovative. Unless you think an insect boss wiggling his legs is the height of graphics and design.

This is just Nintendo fans being Nintendo fans. They love these cutesy little games with cutesy little characters in a familiar 2D platformer they've been inculcated with since they were a small child.
