Is PoE the most overhyped slop game ever? All I've ever heard about it was its insanely difficult, you need a guide to even get half way through the campaign, but its got the best endgame of any ARPG ever!!!!
Then I actually played it, breezed through the game without even bothering to look anything up till red maps because it was so mindnumbingly easy, and it turns out the "endgame" is autistically spamming exactly the same map with exactly the same modifiers on it to do 2-3 old league mechanics while the floor is littered with 10000 items you have filtered away just to go back to your hideout and wait 30 minutes trying to trade something with a bunch of bots and afkers
I will say I do like the skill system, but I barely engaged with it because the whole game is too easy. Like I actually feel like I was pranked by the whole PoE community, there is no way people are actually circlejerking about how difficult this game is when even if you do die to something nothing resets and you have infinite tries until maps obviously even then 6 tries was enough for me to beat searing exarch/eater of worlds/maven boss rush thing blind and without a sweat

They are right that the game is hard on Gauntlet, because the entire game is explicitly changed to be unfair. It's also forced HC so one mistake and you're out, and since Gauntlets have money prizes you're gonna be competing against niggas who finishes act 10 by the time you entered act 3.
The acts have been powercrept, so whatever brick wall you're talking about are long gone. It is true that once upon a time acts posed a real challenge, but that is many years ago, before all 10 acts could be finished in a few hours.
Uber Bosses are just about the only true test of your build, at this point, which is fine.

There are usually some prizes you can pick up as a nobody. Streamers will usually play meta so they can try to pick up as many prizes as possible in the endgame, and every gauntlet usually has gimmick/meme prizes or class-specific prizes that streamers will not go for (atleast until they've finished their 'main run')

Most of the """difficulty""" for a new player in poe is just the baseline skill balancing.
If you go in blind and pick a skill you like the look of you might get something that can effortlessly carry you through the acts with just the obvious damage supports/nodes and you might get something that relies on unclear or un-intuitive scaling mechanics or sucks without a lot of investment or just plain sucks.
I've had friends who started fresh in the same league end up on completely opposite sides of that spectrum purely by luck of the draw.

It used to be tough man. You just came in after they patched out all the extremely hard things by adding more modifier tiers. In 2016 it was genuinely the hardest game on the market. You couldn't cap your resists without super rare unique gear that had .1% drop chance and you needed to be resist capped to survive. The level cap was usually 80 because getting exp after 80 was almost impossible. It wasn't until they added syndicate that people weere able to consistently get to 95+
They just kept adding things that make the game way easier.

The genre hit a dead end.
What once was about action, fantasy exploration, and combat devolved into obsessive build theorycrafting and slot-machine item gambling. Actual gameplay became secondary, especially in the endgame, where the “best” builds are the ones that trivialize most monster mechanics and erase difficulty altogether.
It’s no surprise the fanbase overlaps with card-gamers, autobattler enjoyers, and mobile gacha collectors since it rewards spreadsheet tinkering more than playing.
POE accelerated this self-referential inbreeding of design because it catered to a small, peculiar niche fanbase, and it slowly warped the genre until it became unrecognizable, yet paradoxically set the new standard. Specially because Diablo 3 and 4, afraid to lean into PoE’s overcomplicated and conflated systems, stuck with shallow builds and crafting but did nothing to push the core action gameplay forward. People that enjoyed Action RPGs moved to tangential genres like souls games, rogue-like arpg like Hades, and even shooter hells like vampire survivors. The die-hard theorycrafters stayed with POE.

metamorph/harvest and the atlas changes that came with them (sirus and the other shit iirc) were more or less POE's 'zoom vision' taken to its logical conclusion in ways that were both fun and engaging for the player

Yeah PoE's gameplay is really light that's part of the enjoyment. PoE is more about what you're thinking about rather than what you're doing. The game is chores and they're actually pretty fun. Learning the system is fun, learning mechanics is fun, optimizing progression is fun, making your own builds is fun. The gameplay itself isn't the fun part. Also, play HC.

I really like PoE and respect GGG for doing so much with a single game, producing massive amounts of content for free, and never breaking their dedication of no pay-to-win mechanics (except stash tabs but that's the about as far as they ever went). It's also one of the very few games out there where every mechanic and system are constantly kept up to date and reworked to feed into each other; like using your currency orbs as crafting which you can use on your items to make them better or on your MAPS to make them harder but more rewarding is so genius. There are very few autism games out there like it; Gemcraft might be another example. I went on an ARPG bender for a while and played them all; Grim Dawn and Diablo don't even come close. It's a shame they went full retard with PoE2 and the game got too bloated for its own good.

People said the game is slop and too easy, and some people said to play HC and I replied "it's trash because you will randomly die", like most people do playing in softcore, and the only alternative to this is being unkillable—which is something you can never be in any roguelike or other mmo type game like lost ark, which plays quite similar to PoE while not being a full ARPG diablo-like, because it makes the game a huge chore to play, as the fear of dying is dead. So you might as well play softcore and enjoy your relaxing cookieclicker gameplay while theorycrafting builds like you're supposed to.

That is just something that you made up for your argument to have any sort of value to it. You can't just put an artificial limitation on something to prove something is not true.
New league content is part of the game. And for most of the players, it's the biggest appeal for coming back to the game every couple months, so I'd say it's objectively one of the most important parts of the game every new league. So yes, if that content is extremely unbalanced, it means you will very often die to random oneshots. At that point it doesn't matter that the rest of the game is balanced.
If you have a car which drives smoothly, but sometimes randomly the suspension will shoot out and cause the car to shake violently like you've driven over a pothole, then by all means you can't call the experience of driving that car as "smooth". You can't just artificially put exceptions on it like "it drives smoothly, except for the random violent shakes, but we don't count those so they don't matter".

I don't play Poo2, but death happening quickly doesn't mean it was a random death. PoE is a knowledge game, where the actual gameplay is just a test for the build. When you die, the mistake was made earlier, not in the moment. Like I already pointed out, playing without shock or ele immunity, or without crit reduction or crit immunity.

Can't believe they would even consider putting it into the game. They know from beforehand that just ignoring 10% mitigation is in most cases taking atleast DOUBLE the damage from a hit. Pair that with unbalanced first week numbers on skills like flameblast, meteor, divine ire etc. and you have a recipe for a lot of deaths on HC
