If you make mistakes, learn from them. If you screw up, move on and be better. The strongest of men don’t regret their mistakes, because they only make us stronger in the end. Wounds heal into scars, strained muscle is made denser, a weary brain is strengthened with rest.

I want you to know that this video manifested in my recommendations when it came out, and it broke me. The clip where Kratos explains to Atreus why he shouldn't have been needlessly cruel was like having my brain scooped out of my head, smeared on the screen, and being told "Look at what you did. That's you, that clip is about you. Be ashamed." It was an incredibly sobering reality check from a place I wasn't expecting. I've apologised, I've tried to be better - I HOPE that I'm a better person, and this video still lives in my head rent free. Maybe I'd have reached this point by myself, maybe I wouldn't have reached this point at all, but I'm glad this video helped me reach it as quickly and as firmly as it did. This video broke me, and I'm grateful for it.

Gotta admit, Kratos reminds me of my dad a fair bit. For the majority of his life, he was known as a no-nonsense asshole, a frat boy with a degree who got into tech, a guy who threw a harasser out the window. The angry bald guy, with a big ol skull tattoo, the nerd with an axe to grind. But for my siblings and step siblings? He was the best dad. The dad who played swords with us, who taught us DND, the dad who made peace with his parents so they could see us, and the dad who let my siblings and I go, so we could be happier and free living with our mum, when our mental health issues were too much, and we needed help closer to doctors. He still sees us once a week, and he’s always supported us. My brother’s interests, my art, my sister’s grad path. He’s the best dad, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. He broke the cycle, and my siblings and I are thriving, and I don’t think he’ll ever know how much we appreciate him, cause you can’t put that shit in words.

I get /v/ likes to tryhard about the original god of war being easy and whatnot, but the game was a huge passion project from everyone involved and it shows. The game ran with no loading screens, tight, easy to pick up harder to master combat, tons of unlockable shit, secrets, the whole nine. The first three games on ps2/3 are phenomenal. They nailed the brutality, aesthetics, lore and gameplay. You guys didn't know how good you had it. Now enjoy onions of war forever.
