even Genshin was more entertaining in combat thanks to the elemental reactions, but Wuthering Waves?
It's like they copied everything from Genshin except the elemental reactions, and tried to hide their worse combat with stupid amount of graphics, effects and animations

It's better than Genshin in almost every other way, but the combat is braindead, not to mention being limited to 3 characters instead of 4.
Some characters are an ear and an eyesore with the amount of effects, teleporting and noise they make.

Is it really too much to ask to not have to close my eyes everytime I use an ult ability, lest I get a headache over prolonged exposure to flashing lights, spam of bloated numbers and eargrating noises?

Play steam, mobile runs poorly unless you have a recent flagship with a SD 8 Elite or SD 8gen3. Steam version also allows you to select 120fps if you have recent hardware like the nvidia 4000 series or newer and new AMD CPUs (their hardware whitelist for 120fps is very arbitrary and insanely stupid - a lot of older hardware can easily run it at 120fps).

It's the way they're told. Chinese gachas have bloated scripts that say little for how massive they are. Compare it to FGO, where story chapters are anywhere from 15 to 40 hours of unvoiced text and nobody minds it.
The other issue is that the majority of gacha writing exists to sell you the latest characters first, tell a story second. The only ones who avoid this are the gachas that focus on a small cast of characters.

I stopped playing it but I played Girl's Frontline 2 a little bit and there was one particular event where the player character hero was absent for the ENTIRE duration and it's one of the best gacha arcs I've ever read in terms of story, focusing on two characters, one returning and one brand new and telling there story and letting it have a full arc and conclusion in a single patch.

I played it. The combat is stiff and worse than Genshin even, since its basically designed for mobile players who just do rotation and watch hour long animation where your are locked in and game compensates for lack of combat feedback by fancy animations. Everything about Wuwa combat is shit - parry, dodge, you hit air basically having zero connection with enemy and locked in place while your character teleports around as you do the 100 times repeated rotation.

Genshin at least was WAY more fluid, didnt take control away and had elemental system. Wuwa is not an action game at all, especially compared to ZZZ where every impact is felt and you are in complete control like in fighting game.

I played HI3 and Genshin was huge upgrade. HI3 LOOKs spectacular, but claiming its combat is better is a lie. HI3 in open world doesnt work, which Wuwa found out by experience.

ZZZ also didnt just copy HI3, it made sure the game was more like a fighting - with key points being complete control of character, strike impact and reactivity. Wuwa has none of that, its floating mess.

Genshin is not fancy, it doesnt make your char explode universe on button press, but overall combat and enemy interaction is WAY more polished and fun. Ganyu alone beat every Wuwa character in existence in fun of playing and things you can do.
