I don't get people who spend most of their gaming time replaying games. There are far too many video games I want to experience that I likely won't have the time to in my lifetime

sometimes it's more appealing to play something familiar that you know you're going to enjoy than take the money and time risk on something that might be middling or even bad

A Backlog is you kneeling to other people's tastes.

If you can't help yourself from your own actions, why would I?
Drown in games.

Give your mom's credit card back instead of being an idiot.

I don't buy new games
And if it's a hot gossip drama game everyone is talking about I just watch a playthrough

Sometimes new games make me sleepy, then I put on one of the old MGS or FF games and I can't stop playing until I beat them, curious shit.

I really like "how long to beat" for this. I organize games by length and clear a few short ones so I don't get down about not completing anything. I also have basically stopped playing super long games altogether. I don't have the time not energy to play garbage open world games that are only that big for the sole purpose of wasting my time just so the developers can boost "hundreds of hours of gameplay!" in an attempt to sell the game to more retards. I've also dropped most JRPGs for similar reasons, the grind just isn't fun and feels like a waste of time rather than it being fun.

>adult life
You are single, don't have children and probably order food several times a week.
You remind me of my coworkers.

I would like to say the same but I enjoy the grind in JRPGs, if the game is good then grinding feels fulfilling. But I never played Western open world slop for the same reason, I've never tried an Ubisoft game but somehow I have this feeling that I know exactly how they are.

Lmao this, I have like 7 hours of free time every day, it could be more if I didn't sleep 9 hours, and I work remote. I always have time for hobbies and vidya and if you sleep enough you don't get the "too tired from work to do anything" bullshit excuse.

New games are bad, both in terms of writing and technical innovations. It used to be that developers made games as a medium to tell a story or to showcase an innovative new idea. Now we have hit a point of exponentially lower returns in terms of graphical fidelity, devs churning out formulaic slop, and stories revolving purely around contemporary issues of gender identification.

I'm not even talking about new games, there are 40+ years of games to look through. Most of my list is games released before 2010

Some JRPGs are sometimes fine. I will actually allow myself to start them, I just often drop them. I no longer allow myself to start open world games (with a few exceptions).
>>720294448
There are still more old games than I ever have the time in my life to play.
Anonymous No.720294732 [Report] >>720295350

And most people on here have played all of the ones worth playing from that period.

You don't have a backlog. You have a list of games you stopped enjoying or never really wanted to play to begin with.
Anonymous No.720295232 [Report]

Backlog is usually games you want to play not games you played then dropped. I have both a massive backlog and massive list of games I dropped.

Except theres loads of games worth playing that don't get talked about all that much and it is extremely doubtful that everyone has played them. More than likely you are saying "I've played every game worth playing from that time period" while in actuality you've played a handful and think you know everything.

>play game

Its only going to spiral exponentially from here, and the worst part is, you won't play the games you really want to, and will 100% Yakuza 3 for the second (2nd) time

I just miss when JRPGs were the only games allowed to be long, and even then 20 hours was the sweet spot, Chrono Trigger is perfect, it doesn't need to be 50 hours long.
A game like MGSV being 50 hours long is exactly what I don't want.

I used to never drop games, if the game was supposed to be good it would be in my backlog forever, the game that unironically made me realize that I don't have to play all games was Horizon, I played like 8 hours and I realize I didn't have to do this to myself. Never forced myself to finish games I didn't like since then, I can safely ignore games that don't interest me even if they are 10/10 GOTY OMG GAME OF THE DECADE shit.
