It makes not one bit of sense. This entire act builds up the Void as this ultimate enemy, the thing that Hornet has to beat. You go down there expecting the Shade Lord and it's just Lace, again. It would've been a perfect tie-in as well, the true final boss of the first game is the embodiment of light and the true final boss of the second game is the embodiment of dark. But we didn't get that, we got a boss that is 50% the same moveset of a boss we have fought TWICE.

Make sure to cleanse your maggot debuff before entering the arena by fighting enemies in the prior rooms
Use the beetles to kill the waves with minimal damage, but sneak in some melee hits for silk
Then spam pins on the boss to maintain his poison and finish him fast
Don’t get close as it’s easy to get punished in melee, only go in if you have to
The platforming is annoying but if you get good it’s not that long, the runback is only 40 seconds or so
I beat the boss earlier tonight and it is aids but it’s not that hard with good tool use and out-of-combat strategy beforehand

Honestly he's super easy if you take him slowly. He only has 3 attacks :
- throw balls : probably the most dangerous, avoid them
- sucky sucky : honestly, it doesn't last very long, and if you spend a lot of time airborne and the boss is high up, just stand at the bottom, it will end before it reaches you
- fireballs : heh, straight shoots, easy to avoid
And the rest of the time he just chills there doing nothing.
It is tempting to pogo on him like crazy, but try to stop before reaching the ceiling, you'll get stuck and hit.

I've "back doored" my way into the citadel. Now I'm wondering if it's worth it to throw myself at this boss up at the top. Or go back to visit all the areas I skipped and collect more stuff. I kind of hate being weak. But at the same time, I'm enjoying the notion of sequence breaking.

So tell me, in vague terms, is it worth killing this boss? Please don't tell me what the reward is or isn't, or what story outcome is or isn't, or anything too informative. I just want to know, on a personal level, do you guys feel like defeating this boss would be worth the hardship? Or would you recommend exploring more first? I've done it twice now since I had to revert a save to do the curse ending. Just use the previous waves to build up silk and focus down one of them first. Avoid staying between them, dodge to whichever side has more room and dash in for a quick hit or two whenever there's an opening.

I'm pretty sure it's the boss I think is by far the coolest. Thematically and in terms of presentation. And I did like the frantic pacing of the fight.
I just kind of feel like I shouldn't have been able to just frantically, almost face tank the boss.

I keep seeing people complain about everything in the game dealing so much damage to you and the game being harder than Hollow Knight because of it.
But when it's so much easier comparably to heal, how much does the damage you take even matter? You just need to learn how to heal and then you can make tons of mistakes.

I wonder if DLC will make a more difficult version of the boss because I really love it otherwise.
