every single one of widow's attacks is projected and can be avoided by practice
and since i know you'll have trouble against last judge too
keep a kind of medium distance from her and try to bait her jump slam move, you can get a few hits when she does that
equip the throwing javelin equip, it does increased damage against armored enemies
equip the fire resist blue tool, it helps with her final phase when she gets fire attacks
you can get some hits in when she throws the flail far, but jump before she pulls it back so it doesnt hit you
i'd recommend spamming the javelin from medium distance when she does the flail spin move
when shes in her final phase, all of her attacks get fire after effects, the flail throw will explode with fire before she pulls it back, the spinning flail causes some waves of fire to appear at long range, but they're projected and you have a bit of time to reposition, the jump slam will cause a wave of fire to spread along the ground, so jump after she hits the ground to avoid it, and she also gets a new move where she'll dash toward you, leaving some fire that bursts out of the ground behind her, but you can hide in some safe spots between the fire bursts

This is one time in my life I felt absolutely no shame in installing mods that make gameplay easier.
5,5 hours in and no health or nail upgrades in sight, enemies are damage sponges, half of them deal 2 hearts of damage in one hit or stunlock you should you fuck up, awful amount of backtracking in case of death, beads are too scarce and half the upgrades you buy with them are useless. This game is simply a pain to play.

It's absurdly mobile, doesn't ever stop you for anything you do. And it has an amazing dash attack with homing follow-up attack. It makes most of the bipedal boss fights actually fun and very fast paced as you can keep up with the really fast ones like First Sinner and Phantom. It's also a lot easier to pogo with. Reaper is also easy to pogo with but I've noticed it seems to glitch sometimes on enemies and not give you a proper bounce so you clip into them and take contact damage instantly which is insanely annoying.
I want to like Shaman in theory but it forces you to the ground to use silk spells (including the heal) which feels insanely counter to Hornet's normally flexible movement.

Poison charm affects flea brew and makes your needle attacks toxic for a while.

Not impossible, but you really should remember this is a Metroidvania, not Dark Souls... You should get Flea Brew and Flintslate. All I needed for both bosses. Double damage and attack speed.

If you're exploring you should have the Druid's Eye and Warding Bell combo to get an insurance policy and protected healing. After Widow replace Druid's Eye with Multibinder (from the shop that unlocks after Widow). Keep Warding Bell. Combo with Reaper Crest. You will become a tank. The surplus silk can be spent on Thread Storms.

Druid's Eye gives one attack's worth of silk for tanking 2 hits
Warding Bell only prevents you from taking damage, the heal still fails if you get hit, waste of a slot
Multibinder almost doubles the healing time for 1 extra mask, which in practice is an awful trade

I'm expecting harder versions of Phantom and Mother Silk at some point in a DLC.
And hopefully Khann because that nigger is in Act 3 yet he is easier than most Act 1 bosses.

Cogwork Drones are cheesed so hard they can be beaten with a macro holding down+side and mashing dash and sword. They cannot hit you on the wall. Don't jump, just dash down+side into the wall. Quick Heal is after Act 2.
In Act 1 you have 5 Blues.
Pollip, Mask, Eye, and both Bells.
Pollip lowers base damage unless on Flintslate/Brew combo, but does the DoT to make it worth it if you can stay close. This early, Thread Storm is the strongest option, so farming soul is the best way to spam it.

Multibinder is fucking terrible, it splits your heal into two parts which heals 2 masks per portion and effectively doubles the cast time. With the charm that increases heal cast speed you are still slower than default and wasting two charm slots to heal 1 mask more than default.

Flint Brew Poison makes nail DPS skyrocket, but they expire quickly so your tempo needs to be good in the fight. I'm late to the party but I got hit with a City of Tears moments bros. Something that just hits me in the feefees. But it extracted the wrong emotions.
I beat the Last Judge, lost money like 100 rosaries in the process because I was a dumbfuck but I beat him and now entered Act 2. So far so good.

I thought the Citadel would have a really beautiful and somber City of Tears intro before diving back into the action but no. I immediately got sent into some shithole called the Underworks and everything is miserable. I barely had any rosaries and by the time I found a bench, I got forced to pay for it. And you know what happened? It was a fucking RENT A BENCH.

When I sat next to Quirrel at the City of Tears I felt awed and humbled and inspired by the bug equivalent to Anor Londo. Now as I sit on some rented fucking bench in the middle of some tight ass shithole working quarters next to a confession stall that also wanted money I felt like the entire weight of Pharloom fall down on me at that moment.

If all else fails, the cogfly tool in High halls will come in clutch, but really even a simple tool like the threefold pin can take out fliers easily.

The high halls arena is 100x harder than any arena up to that point, so prepare your asshole.

There's a grain of truth to the "You didn't beat the game" meme, though. Spirit ash summons are strong not because they deal damage to the boss, but because they prevent the boss from dealing damage to you. Every second the boss is focused on your summon is a second you don't actually have to properly play the game. You can hit the boss for free, heal for free, and deal stance damage for free without it decaying even if you play passively.

Silksong obviously doesn't have summoning, but poison tacks and cogflies basically let you avoid actually playing the game in the same way, more so than other tools because they require no positioning or precision. Ammunition? Architect crest.

M8, I am in the act 3. High halls arena is baby shit compared to the coral tower gauntlet because at least in high halls arena, you can actually replenish your tools if you are using the architect and thus you can cheese the fight. The Coral tower is a series of arena fights, with each area (there are at least 3, dunno if more because I have never managed to clear the third one) has multiple waves of enemies, among which are bullshit nigger flying shits that constantly dart around the screen, and if they manage to hit you they do 2 masks worth of damage with their combos. Those fuckers are what almost always end up costing me my attempts.

Ah shit my bad, I was mistaking the gauntlet with the A2 citadel choral area. Yeah I haven't done the coral tower yet, its next on my list, currently sweeping through A3 completing side content and collecting, just finished up Verdania. Guess I will prepare myself for a pain in the ass soon then.

The bosses in this game are so strange. I beat Savage Beastfly in 2 tries, Widow in 3, and Fourth Chorus in 1 yet Judge took me almost 20 and the dancers I was stuck on for over an hour. Judge has like a 3 hour long windup for every attack except the spin and Dancers literally tell you what direction they're moving and I got my shit kicked in.

The only "positive" side of coral tower is that because it is a dream fight or someshit, using tools does not cost shards because whenever you die you just wake up next to the thing via which you enter the gauntlet with full tools. Unless though, you are using the architect, and try to replenish your tools in the gauntlet and die, then for some fucking reason (maybe a bug, to be fair) your tools are no longer replenished as you awake, forcing you to replenish them at a bench which of course costs shards.
