It's very hard to say. When i didn't have a good grasp on a boss moveset i would think the same, but with time a good amount of my fights ended with "wait, he's already dead?", but maybe i'm in the minority.

I don't get what TC was going for with Witch. The lifesteal hard caps at three against a single target. But it has a million years of start-up without injector. It only does about as much damage as Sharpdart but costs way more and is hard to hit with safety. And why does a crest called "Witch" have no special synergy with magic/silk?

This is just part of the thing with both HK and Skong. Your healing and your most damaging moves come from the same ammo pool. The gudder you git, the less of that pool needs to go toward healing. On top of that, you're also not spending your openings on binding, you're landing more hits. It makes it so that how well you're playing the fight and how quickly it goes has a bit of an exponential curve. On top of that, the health pools are clearly designed around the assumption that you're gonna dump an entire pouch's worth of at least one tool in the boss's face.

If you're in late-late-lategame and still need cash, and you've got the thief charm and Eva go to the bench in top left Choral that's right at the entrance to High Halls, run one room over, fire three spells to kill the dudes in that room, collect 63 rosaries, and run back to the bench to refill your silk and do it again. Fast, easy money for those expensive house upgrades and shit.

Bilewater in itself is bad but Groal isn't that hard to fight. His moves are basic and easy to avoid, albeit he doesn't leave a lot of openings to hit him without using Clawline, just use the tools you have on him.

Hunter. One thing I dislike about the crest system is that any new crest you get is inherently gimped unless you spoil yourself and save memory pendants for a good one. I unlocked Architech and it feels like a cool fork of Hunter, but I don't wanna use it cause it has no unlocked slots and I can't find more stones right now. Exploring old areas to try getting some. I should equip it now that I think about it, since old mobs aren't going to give me much issue if I'm not fully built...but then again, traversing with it is slower, which is one of my main gripes with the crest. Feels cool for combat but shit for exploration.

It's obvious he was just missing all his hooks since he wasn't getting refunded silk, and that probably means he's just not using it in combat at all. When you first get it, it's a bit jank learning its timing, range, and understanding the iframes that come after pulling it off successfully.

This doesn't really contradict the game giving you useful tools to outskill your opponent as opposed to just higher numbers. It's a new skill to learn, and when you learn it, it makes a lot of playforming and older enemies a breeze. It's a meaningful upgrade in the vein of giving you something new to master than, when you do, lets you wipe the floor hard. It's more impactful than just doing more damage.

Yeah that would be my one complaint about the crest system. So many of them are just complete ass for exploring around. Witch and Beast both end up getting you slowly whittled down with no way to heal from little idiots landing one hit or a missed jump. Trying to do any pogos at all with most crests just makes already hard sections a lot more difficult. It just feels too optimal to have Wanderer on by default and then switch to a more boss/arena specific crest if you get owned by a specific fight. Maybe that's working as intended, though.

I beat the silk grandrandmother the other night in 3 tries my first time. Am I cracked or is the boss not that hard? I'm guessing she's just not that hard, since I died many more times to earlier bosses, like the giant stick boss, or last judge.

There is a charm that negates that damage, it is sold by the smith in deep docks, or you can jump keep jumping non stop, and you will never take damage, the timing is very generous, I think you take damage after standing on lava for 2 seconds, so just jump every second and you will be fine.

The telegraph on the tornado is way too subtle, you instinctually want to attack him from the side when he's in the air but you can get instagibbed by the grenades if you do that, and the fight is just long as hell. Like yeah you can get some fun combos in on the guy or some sleek dodges but it's 4-5 minutes of a boss whose difficulty barely changes through the phases. It's the equivalent of playing against a kid who spams bouncy grenades in an fps, sure you can outskill him, but it doesn't mean he's fun to play against

Pharloom has more of a focus on technology and metal working but they have to get magic (or Soul) from silk, and most of the time that silk is only useful with machinery.
Hallownest has less metal but the metal they DO have is OP (pale ore), while also having much more of a focus on magic/soul rather than tech. You can actually see in the bestiary Hornet going "Damn they've got good metal." With her even being a little upset over the flinstone flying ranged guys throwing around what she thinks is a practical as fuck rock.

I actually find this pretty cool, it highlights the differences in both kingdoms. HK just suffers from Team Cherry making their first game and Hallownest feeling a bit smaller than Pharloom. In canon I'm sure they're around the same size. Or at least, Hallownest is smaller but denser in it's power, and Pharloom is bigger but less powerful over that area.
I think Hallownest would overall win in a fight if both kingdoms were in their primes.

There's several shortcuts you can open up along the way, you could scope out your route a little and make sure you're following the shortest path. On top of that, equip Weavelight and the sprint booster tool. You can rest at the bench in Bellhart and just quit to menu any time it breaks, you'll instantly go back to Bellhart for no cost (this tactic is mild cheese imo, but using it for the rasher is justified). It's definitely possible to get there with about three segments on the bar left if you really hustle and don't get hit, so there's wiggle room.

go in from the eastern entrance through the mist. its genuinely not all that hard. if you want to you can even start from the npc and walk the route backwards and pre-clear all the mobs before starting. the only things that respawn are non rosary mobs which I think are just cogflys in a single room

with anklets you can get hit 3 times and still make it in time. if you dont get hit and dont sprint into walls (counts as getting hit for this wish) then the timing is extremely generous. I had your same mindset and almost got it my first try after preclearing not realizing sprinting into walls fucked you up and I lost literally at the levers going into the chefs room. I just sent it again without preclearing and I got it with 2 blips left

100% the game yesterday. Lace 3 was the hardest boss for me but Karmelita was my favorite. Overall amazing game, only really disliked the quest system and the fact they had to make Hornet lesbian for some reason. But i guess making your FeMC a lesbian is the easiest way to get wokepoints while not alienating the overall public.
