First, it's a product of its time.
Second, Nagito is a product of the prequel. He's an interesting combination of Makoto and Junko that kept people guessing
Third, he's the only proper rival (Byakuya was not autistic enough to push things that far)

I was blown the fuck away by that case, I thought it was another suicide disguised as a murder, but the way it evolved and how the killer killed him was insane. Easily the best case in the series and makes me wonder why Kodaka doesn't tap into that more often. I'm genuinely surprised it was cooked up by him, it's like the shining. Rain Code is the tamest Kodaka game. Short, restrictive, and fully focused on its mystery. The quality of its cases are mixed. First case is dreadfully boring. Second case is mediocre. Third is good and on-par with DR's better cases. Fourth case is pointless. Fifth and Final cases are solid. The characters are also solid, and a likable bunch. It sits right in the average of Kodaka's writing. Not good. Not terrible.

Hundred Line is probably the most experimental that Kodaka has ever been. Characters are often inconsistent, but you can chalk that up to the scenario. The story is nothing to speak of, but watching the characters in different scenarios and learning more about the world was fun. The high points are also very satisfying. Coming of Age, Retsnom, and 2nd scenario were kino.

Have the moment that changes things be Hajime’s own luck overpowers Nagito’s so he draws the short straw to clean the party house. Nagito is then killed when he goes off to think, revealing that had the murder never happened, someone else was planning to kill at the party, or was someone else who clocked on to what Nagito was planning originally.

Here's who I think will survive and who won't.

So Hajime is probably surviving because he's the protagonist.

Fuyuhiko may survive but it's unlikely but he's important enough I guess.

Kazuichi, Sonia and Akane are definitely not surviving because not only did they survive originally but they never really did much in the original 2 and they are not as important or have as much depth as Fuyuhiko.

Nagito and Chiaki are a 50% chance they will survive, they are both important and beloved characters that they are probably making it far too and I could see them survive but I could see them be killed off again.

Fat Byakuya, Mahiru, Peko, Hiyoko and Nekomaru are characters that died but I thin have a high chance of surviving, mainly because they are grounded in reality in terms of there personality despite not surviving. The reveal that Byakuya is actually a imposter while he's still alive could be interesting, Mahiru is smart and competent enough despite dying incredibly early in the original game and I could see her potentially surviving, I feel like if Peko survives, Fuyuhiko will die, he will die so she can live, basically reverse of what happened originally. Hiyoko in the original game had by far the most meaningless death, she was killed simply for walking in on Mikan planning Ibukis death and right in the middle of character development and she barely gets any focus on her death so I could see the writers trying to make up for what happened to Hiyoko in the original 2. Nekomaru, shit jokes aside, I think he's realistic enough that he could survive.

Teruteru, Ibuki, Mikan and Gundham are the characters I feel like will probably die but could survive but I have my doubts. Teruteru for obvious reasons, he's a silly perv who looks different from the rest of the cast. Ibuki is also too silly to be a survivor. Mikan is to extremely submissive and pitiful to be a survivor and she's just perfect victim/culprit material. Gundham is Gundham.
