Basically:
Speed decided your maximum speed at the last third of the race. Last third of the race is divided into Late Race and Last Spurt.
Stamina is your HP. The faster your uma go, the faster it is reduced. If you have enough stamina left, your uma will start accelerating to maximum speed at the start of Late Race. If your HP is 0, your uma will decelerate to minimum speed (usually only happens at Late Race or Last Spurt).
Power decided your acceleration, and how fast you move sideways (if you're blocked) for example.
Guts decided how slow your HP is reduced at late race. (That's why it's shitty for now)
Wit decided your skill activation chance, variance to your speed at first and second half of the race, chance to keep good position or overtaking umas (for example if you are a front runner but not in the lead), and rushed chance. Nothing about Wit can prevent debuffs AFAIK.

So if you are blocked, or in bad position, no amounts of speed can save you.

Yeah ideally it's stamina parents. Getting to 600 stamina without a stamina card is challenging, especially if your power cards aren't that high level.

Yes, they usually follow the same path (most of them even end with URA Finale the same way) but they add new mechanics unique to that scenario that allow you to gain more stats (although current scenario broke the game allowing you to pretty much max every stat with a good deck and some luck) and they have tests or races every 12 turns or so. Some do add more substantial content like the french one, that completely replaces summer camp, to go race in France and ends the career early in the second overseas trip. I haven't played the mecha one and twinkle legends yet, but I think they must be pretty much the same.
