The reason there’s a big remake fad is because it hard for people to access the original games. I feel like this is why Delta is what a remake should be: A game that’s near 1:1 to the original, but removes most of the jank that the original had, while also fixing some of the more prevalent problems of the original like how the tranq gun in the OG was overpowered. Things like FFVII Rebirth and the RE remakes are more reimaginings than anything else because of how distinctly different they are from the OG.


That said, we should have more remasters in addition to remakes. The big concern we have is vidya preservation, and that becomes an even bigger concern as time goes on. Vidya desperately needs its own version of things like The Criterion Collection— That’s the only way you’re going to prevent things like FFVII Rebirth which are completely do-overs of the original.

The OG is fantastic, but let’s not pretend it doesn’t have parts that make it awkward to play. Delta plays smoother by virtue of controlling a little closer to MGSV. The only jank part is the lack of a sprint button, but I feel they likely didn’t include that because it would break the levels.

I never had any problems with this. You have to press circle noticeably hard, to cut a throat. And interrogation button Is L3. Same for shooting. Even though, It was properly remapped since Xbox 360 port.

Except crouch walking was never anywhere near the meta. If anything, you have crawling (slow, low risk) or running (dodging vision cones, high risk). Crouch walking is a middle ground you find in SOME situations but it's much less important than the other two.

Crawling/lying can be interesting in some situations (eg you suddenly hid from an approaching enemy) but it's boring when you just do it all the time to maximize safety

Avoiding vision cones is interesting when it's dynamic and makes good use of environment but it's incredibly boring when you just go for the route where you know the guards aren't looking (see: any MGS3 speedrun)

Avoiding vision cones in MGS1 wasn't very interesting, it was a bit better and more dynamic in MGS2 (but the heavy reliance on Soliton still makes it quite static, at least it's not the fucking Pacman MGS1 was)
