why was re village so astonishingly bad compared to 7?
Anonymous No.720639092 [Report]
I liked it more than 7 but didn't really care for either

8 was pretty bad, but 7 was complete dogshit and barely even a game. 9 will also be garbage.
Anonymous No.720639306 [Report] >>720649434
7 was a first person survival horror, Village was a slow paced action shooter. Like RE4 but with none of the things that made RE4 good.
Anonymous No.720639404 [Report]
8 was a bad mix of 4 and 7.

7 was good for 60% of the game
8 was good for 25% of the game

Incoherent mess of completely different areas stapled together. Usually RE combines about 2.5 distinct areas together, this one had like fucking 8.

This is true, but 7 was good for 0% of the game.

It was like a mix of 50 different things. Also dimitrescu is just mr x 2.0 that lasts 10min

I remember an upgrade/optional boss being locked behind visiting a common area (graveyard) at an extremely specific timeframe. Interacting with the ncessary thing before or after said timeframe was pointless and not doing so at the right time would permanently lock you out of both the upgrade and the boss fight.

The game was pissing me off with a few other things but it was at that specific moment that I realised the people claiming this game was like "RE4 but in first person" had no clue what they were talking about and should've shut the fuck up because they did both games a disservice with that undeserved comparison

8 was trying to appeal to people who didn't like 7 while also being a sequel to 7, the result was a schizophrenic game that wasn't very good at anything
Anonymous No.720640808 [Report]
It just feels awful to play, like no reactions to hits, weird floaty gameplay. Just awful, its only lasting impact is ooooo le thiccady and thats it
Anonymous No.720641086 [Report]
7 had the strongest ethos since maybe RE4. It really really knew what it wanted to be, and how to be it

8s identity can be summed up to "imagine RE4 but it plays like 7", which ends up disappointing not only RE7 fans looking forward to their sequel, but also RE4 fans who felt like they were promised something that they didn't receive.

It seems like 9 might be rectifying some of these mistakes but it remains to be seen so far.

>Dimitrescu
>Boss fights with the daughters were lame. Just freeze them and shoot them. This could've had been somewhat salvaged if the devs had given the player the freedom to kill them while roaming the entirety of the castle, as opposed to killing them in tight, scripted areas. The castle had plenty windows to work with after all.
>Dimitrescu couldn't even give two shits when her daughters got killed, and "chases" you in the same walking animation for the entire duration of the castle segment with the same rehashed lines and the same sluggish attack animations that a full-blown autist could see coming two miles off. By the time Ethan offed two of her daughters, D should've had chased him with the vigor of the fucking Nemesis–sprinting and breaking down walls and all sorts of furnitures getting in her way if need be just for her to avenge her daughters considering her sheer size.
>No-brainer puzzles (piano, animal skull, etc.)
>D got killed off way too fast. A bad move, considering how she lured millions of coomers as Village's head mascot. Her boss fight wasn't that good also.

>Donna
>The most brainless boss fight of the four Lords. Just run and find Angie.

>Moreau
>The weakest setting.
>The green slime walls getting in Ethan's way got tedious fast.
>No new enemy varieties, but rather more Wolfmen squatting like Slavs in a dingy cave.

>>Heisenberg
>Apparently the mini-boss with the propeller as head was a rip-off of a creature in the movie, Frakenstein's Army.
>This is also the part where The Duke shows Ethan all these expensive firearms and gadgets out of nowhere–when the game's already somewhere between 80-90% completion. Having a Chris segment right after this doesn't help either.
>Boss fight had Heisenberg talking and acting smug way too much. Even moreso than D. If only he'd just shut it for a full minute.

When developers realize that the brand has become big enough that they can just sell customers a turd and they will still buy it that happens. Its been that way ever since 4 and people still bought the games. Theres no other AAA horror games either to compete with it.

Because it doesn’t do anything particularly well. 7 focused on horror and slower pacing and felt more like an old RE inb4 gay screeching noises and 8 cut back on the horror to push more action only the gameplay is just plain bad when you compare it to the other action heavy RE games like 4, 5, and 6

Sorry faggot, but you don't get to say something completely retarded and wrong and then inb4 yourself. 7 is absolutely nothing like 1-3 and you're a dumb faggot.

>Chris arc
>Mindless spray-and-pray COD/BioShock Infinite corridor-fest.
>The comms coming from Chris' Wolf Hound squad was cringe. ("My mom saw this shit, she'd think she died and gone to hell." "Hold your horses!" "Boom! Haha! Take that!")
>Wolf Hound squad got real awkward with the "You should've told Ethan about Miranda." "No. You still should've told Ethan about Miranda. Are you kidding me?" bitch-fit in the middle of an ops of all time and places.
>Huge lore dump about Spencer being Miranda's pupil or whatever just before Chris finds a locked-up Mia.

>Other remarks
>Game started off weird. It's like they copied the scene from that one HP movie where Hermione explains the origins of the Deathly Hallows.
>Ethan said a lot of fanfiction-tier mumbo-jumbos that the game could completely do without like, "Woah. What the hell?" "What the hell's going on?" "Duurr. Why is this happening?"
>The Wolfmen seemed to be sinister at first. But like the Moldmen in 7, they got old pretty quick. Some of them holding weapons didn't help a bit.
>A very awkward scene at the beginning, when an entire village-worth of Wolfmen converge on Ethan and tosses him out to a completely different setting. Example: When Ethan gets grabbed and tossed by a Wolfman in a house, he teleports all the way to the river bank because?
>A cutscene showed Wolfmen riding horses. But they're never to be seen again gameplay-wise.
>Despite Village boasting more enemy variety than 7, something about fighting the mobs in this game's off. Perhaps it had something to do with being able to decapitate and dismember the Moldmen with a satisfying shotgun blast or two, but the same can't be done as much for the mobs in Village (save blowing Wolfmen's heads).
>Elena died in a lame, comical way.
>Heisenberg letting Ethan go at the start just so he could watch Ethan get torn to shreds by Wolfmen was stupid.
>Overall, story, pacing, and dialogues stunk. Time-skip with Rose was the final nail in the coffin.

it wasn't horrible but at the same time, it felt rushed and boring at times. Also not scary at all but no RE has been scary since RE1.

I didn't like either much but I like 8 more.

Lovely setting, potential is there. Ruined by the barrage of script event explosions and "chase" sequences where you have to move forward in a linear hallway.

RE7 is the better game, but I'd rather play 8 because I could skip cutscenes and the game isn't AS scripted as 7. I still find both games to be pretty boring tho.

how come? In 7, the item management is there, so is the map (one/two location) exploration, the bosses are charismatic and the fights were fun
Anonymous No.720649367 [Report] >>720649612
>>720649218
>how come?
Because being in a house and having an item box doesn't make it an RE game.
>the bosses are charismatic and the fights were fun
The bosses were shitty gimmicks with only the mom being anything near a good fight, and all of the other encounters were terrible.

This is what I hate most about village too. They wanted an action heavy game, but the style of what the game actually is clashes horribly with that desire. It just feels like a slow shitty FPS

>Because that's basically what classic PS1 RE was about
Try actually playing the old RE games. You're confusing a few surface level mechanics with the point of the games. They're all about interconnected level design, routing, and figuring out how to deal with combat encounters. 7 is incredibly scripted and linear and disgustingly slow in the name of "cinematic horror". Even the part people pretend is open isn't actually open, and you have fuck all to do for navigation and puzzle solving since the game explicitly tells you what you need and where you need to get it. On top of that, the game has the worst encounter design in any RE game. It's almost entirely just spawning enemies right in front of and behind you in narrow hallways. It also completely rapes the concept of replayability with how much of it plays exactly the same and can't be sped through. Only people who don't play the old RE games pretend it's just like them by virtue of having an item box and a house.
