I look at Fire Emblem in the same sense as epic poems like The Odyssey and The Illiad. The use of repetition makes sense in the kind of way of easy to remember basic archetypes and symbols again. Engage was memberberries (or memberrings) central because of its anniversary celebration theme for the whole franchise, but they can't lean on that same thing twice in a row

Ehhh, whenever a game does a sequel/prequel in the same universe, they do require quite a bit of previous knowledge to make sense of aspects or the structure. Even something like Blazing Blade required some knowledge of Binding Blade to understand why you don't go to certain parts of the map or why the scale of its adventure is so small.
Fortune's Weave is likely to be a mostly self-contained story, I doubt it would be something like Mystery of the Emblem or Radiant Dawn. But it is going to push you to play TH to understand the world and ideas and potential character relations, regardless of its place in the timeline. Dietrich is already shaping up to be related to Jeritza and Mercedes, and Cai, Leda, and the mystery masked woman all have or is teased to have the lost Crests that the Ashen Wolves have. It's definitely going to be a game focused on filling in some gaps in 3H's lore and mythos, so I doubt it will be TOO standalone.

Besides, it make sense to push newcomers to buy the game you can play on the new system.

I think people really overblow how important it would be for the events of 3H to be kept vague if Byleth were to appear as a character. Hence why the Relics being DISTRUBTED is the key word. Handing them out to other houses is a major part of Rhea's control over them and establishes their sovereignty. Dietrich, whether he is Mercedes's ancestor or closer in relation, still just have what amounts to a lost relic in the game's lore (side note: Lamine was a fat bitch if her corpse made 3 relics). He can't just be a nobody to get such or even aligned with Nemesis. So it have to be after the war against him and Seiros trying to control Fodlan through the crest and nobility system. So regardless of how much a prequel it is, it can't be that far from 3H's timeline. Nowhere near as interesting or important as people are hoping for.

It's been fun refreshing the Gelbooru tag for the game and seeing all the new art coming in regularly.

The Heroic Games are called the Dagsion Heroic Games, and Theodora says she wants the strength to guard the people of Saramis (both names fitting the Jugdral character theme naming of Fodlan -- Dagdar and Sara).
