So First Sinner was the original final boss design, right? They designed it, programmed it, and it was done. And then 4 years later they decided "you know what, actually, this boss needs to be more EPIC" and created granny silk, redrew First Sinner with a cracked head, and redubbed her with the scraggly little gobling sounds.

Right? Because her aesthetics and the way her moveset works is so similar to Granny Silk except she's human-sized, and her one gimmick is such an obvious mirror to Hornet that it feels like a very deliberate "crowning moment" of the game to establish her as a true antithesis/rival.

I beat him faster than the bosses I enjoyed but the fight is actually pretty bad.
The flight height is not consistent so it can be hard to see wether you should stay low or jump. Due to a lack of animations (7 years development btw) he sometimes just turns to attack you without any proper telegraph.
The boss really isn't that difficult but garbage design all around.

Volt Filament is kind of a better balanced Shaman Stone. It helps out more if you're weaker without making skills super busted when you're decked out, unlike Abyssal Shriek spam for 120 damage in Hollow Knight just eviscerating even endgame bosses.

Honestly? Act 3 on the whole is a bit of a miss for me.
I was hoping that the Void twist would have changed up the level progression and design significantly but it ultimately amounts to lots of black shit everywhere with enemies randomly deciding to be a lil more obnoxious. Once you unlock your Bell Beast stops again you can just fast-travel to any point in the map and see how little any of the levels change fundamentally, I was really hoping the game to go further and lock a ton of areas off from fast travel and shake up most of the level design to sell the Void's impact as an inverse to how you start the game from Moss Grotto. As it is now, Act 3 feels like you're just doing a checklist rather than anticipating what new thing is coming up next like the previous acts.
Don't even get me started on fucking Lace. She is the most potential woman character in this whole game. They got everything set up fucking perfectly: she's responsible for freeing Hornet and kickstarting the game. She was framed starting at Deep Docks as Hornet's rival and exploring the Exhaust Organ is mad interesting. But she barely leaves ANY direct or indirect presence across any of the Acts. She is a perpetual womanchild who's motive is founded in a stupid misunderstanding and is the sole proprietor behind Void fucking up Pharloom as much as it did. I can't discern her character beyond this surface level reading of her other than being a thousand year old child because she leaves very little room otherwise. Her whole character is this game's achilles heel for me because of how undeniably important she is but has fuckall presence.

Honestly even after beating this game twice at this point: getting 2 shells off from contact alone is still really stupid especially with how much mobility is emphasized in this game. Hell, I'd go farther and say fuck contact damage in general, get rid of it. It's plain annoying from start to end when you just want to do some platforming.
