Bought Battlefield 1942 when I was a kid and because it had 2 disks, I could give my father one disk and play LAN with him. It was cool for me but he didn't think that... Shame that he never gasped about quality time with both of his son (I understand him, my grandfather never bonded with him after his mother died after he was born).

Outlaws (the cowboy one), Age of mythology and Halo ( I discovered Halo after watching Red vs Blue and showed my dad, he never played Halo, but he loves the theme)

On topic: My dad only ever used to play some shitty Game Boy games like Chessmaster, some soccer game and some top-down Formula 1 racing game.
He also played other racing games with us something, but eventually not anymore because "everything is going too fast". Wondering if I will be the same in ten years or so.
More recently I showed him my VR setup with Assetto Corsa, but he got motion sick pretty quickly.

As someone who dusted off his Call of Duty 4 after almost 20 years I can tell you that it's just too much.
I go in there, specops shit, and suddenly I face the entire chechen army and millions of towelheads and all kinds of heavy machinery and I have probably killed more people in the CoD4 campaign as Soap than I did in the entirety of CoD(UO).
That kind of shit is just stressful. I'd rather breach a door with my squad in SWAT 4.

Yeah, but it's not about how squishy you are, but how many enemies are on screen at once and how in SWAT4 you don't have to run to pass a trigger to make them stop spawning.
Also, even on Hardened you WILL die pretty quickly because the air is lead saturated.

One of my earliest memories is my dad bringing home a nes in like 89 or 90 or something with the grey (not orange faggot shit) zapper and the mario bros/duckhunt cart. We played a ton of shit together all the time but mostly it was the TMNT game. We never did beat it together because I was like 4 and he wasn't the greatest at games but we loved that piece of shit. Good memories. We played some Mario Kart on the SNES but he was pretty much out on games by then. I remember him being absolutely blown away at how Mario 64 looked though.

I don't think my mom (60yo) ever played anything but Tetris, but in the 90s she was basically addicted to it.
I distinctly remember her playing with her friend over link cable. They were just sunbathing in the backyard and playing Tetris.
And no, the friend was not hot.

My dad is from the really cringe subset of people who HATES anime, which is really stupid because if he could just get over his "manliness" I know that he would fucking love it. The dude watches the twilight franchise on repeat because he loves slice of life teenager shit, but he can't watch anime? lmfao. He is missing out so bad, he would fucking love it. Let's just call it even and say that while city builder is technically a sub section of RTS, it is not what people would traditionally think of as an RTS. RTS is typically isometric strategy, with resource gathering and management, and unit production, where you are fighting an opponent. City builders are more like you are fighting other constraints. I think they're both "puzzle" games in their own ways
