If AAA companies care so much about cost and profit, why don't they just make games with smaller budgets? That's what they used to do.

Lower budget = more profit, it's that simple.

They also want to be seen as users/owners of the cutting edge tech, which is what they have done for years. Too bad we've hit the point of diminishing returns.

They want humongous amounts of profits. The kinds that you can only get if you hit it off big with an AAA type production.

Not even Balatro level profit would satisfy them. It's too small ball.

corpos only know how to throw money at problems. that's why they all push for realism in their games because copying what already exist is a task that can be split up among lots of draw monkeys without requiring an inkling of creativity or passion

because reducing teamsize back to basic is "deprofessionalization" which really just means all the grifters and racketeers lose their jobs playing political commissar

It's a multifaceted issue that is mostly tied to stock market shit and illegal actions.
>Bigger budget means more can be scraped off the top for embezzlement
>Bigger budget means siphoning more grant money
>Bigger budget means they can pretend there is a bigger payout and not some flop
>Bigger budget means that they have enough developers working on the project that they can fire half of them and rehire them without killing the project if it becomes convenient for image manipulation
>More developers means that wage theft starts to become statistically more profitable
>Bigger budget means they can waste more time
>Bigger budget means more potential for creative accounting, like taking a loan from a shell company and then marking down the interest on that loan as a loss
>Singular projects, rather than multiple projects means less bean counter shit
>Budgets naturally balloon due to wage costs and poorly managed projects from companies going through acquisitions and mergers will always take much longer

Proof?

A small team working for 3 years is all you need to make any game, which naturally consumes less budget. Any more than that and inefficiency starts to snowball, which is something you can only really afford on passion project shit.

what "AAA" publishers want is developers that cost nothing and somehow know how to code binary, C++, the ins and outs of whatever game engine they've bought, polygons and skins, and also don't expect to be paid anything.

read: they want jeets

you cant make a game with a smaller budget when you have thousands of DEI employees who do nothing but hinder the people actually doing the work

>If AAA companies care so much about cost and profit
you are wrong pepetroon, AAA companies only care about catering to shareholders/investors demands
if BlackRock says put 2 trannies, 5 blacks and 10 women in key management roles whatever AAA company will oblige and ask for more gibs
they don't care about their games doing actually well because it's already paid in full, they can get away with making concord for 15 years easily
>why don't they just make games with smaller budgets?
it wouldn't justify the gorillions in investments first and foremost
and really nobody will play them
boomertroons like to say how they would want a return to ps2 era but the reality is that they won't play that old unplayable zero QoL boring garbage
remakes cater specifically to boomers/genx/millennial cucks

basically this. I suppose you can probably make smaller budget games and they would probably sell well but every AAA company has a go big or go home mentality where they feel the need to make an absolutely disgusting amount of money which you can only really do with these massive projects. Same thing with hollywood. Speaking of, there is also a risk of no one giving a shit if a game is smaller scale, making it a waste of time. Plus they also have to worry about impressing their shareholders as well and a small game doesn't do that.

Small team = less middle management and HR grifters (useless jobs for funneling DEI quotas)

execs come from other industries where spending more money on a single project and sufficiently advertising it is considered the most profitable endeavor

If they made game with smaller budget how could all the jews not working on it leech money from it? Like taxes and welfare. Out of 10 bucks you pay for taxes 9 goes to jews, politicians etc. 0.9 goes to welfare (niggers, gypsies, neurodivergents etc.) and maybe 0.1 goes to improvement of your country (which is why western countries are going to shit).
