Reaper is a noob trap for people that didn't do the math to realize every hit is equal damage. They see slow and meaty and think it does more damage. Reaper is an IQ test.

its fun. the uppercut is amazing for clashing all sorts of thrusts and forward dashing attacks, being able to get soul faster to compensate the loss of healing is nice
>>721039921
if youre just standing still and slashing which is what fucks reaper, you may as well just use wanderer and nothing else
the thing with crests like reaper and hunter is that you get a lot faster burst hitrate by something like dash attack -> pogo -> attack etc

Also, reaper has the only good antiair built into the base moveset: The abysmal upslash is a pain but the nail art is nice

I take some tries on most complex bosses so I do too but on attempts I win, I always keep it up so it’s worth it. For basic exploring it’s nice too, especially against flying enemies. I’m very liberal with trap usage against fliers though.
Anonymous No.721040752 [Report]
>>721040649
It’s good but I mean I see more people getting easier combos off with the others. I like the pogo for platforming and it helps with getting on the other side of opponents but I don’t think it’s THE best. It’s my favorite so I don’t mind, I can even combo it back and forth but the few times I messed with wanderer when I got it, I could pogo faster.

It's just the symbol for the Wanderer's crest; it doesn't really mean anything. Crests change your basic sword swipes and they have a different number of slots for tools. Wanderer is fast but short ranged with a HK1-style pogo, and it has a chance to crit for 3x damage if you have enough silk to bind (i.e. when the harp appears on your HUD, behind the silk meter).

Oh, my bad. It amplifies the harp's sound, so it immobilises bosses and enemies faster than the base needolin. Each boss has unique singing dialogue, and this tool makes it easier to stop them in their tracks and get them to sing. It's really just a filler tool for my spare yellow slot. I believe you also need it to attract the little grubs in that one room in the Blasted Steps so you can kill them for the Hunter's Journal.
>>721043304
Yellow slots are all dogshit anyway, might as well equip the compass to save myself the tedium of parsing my map.
>>721043440
Slight chance to randomly negate damage from a hit. IIRC the chance starts at 2% and increases in increments of 2% to a maximum of 10%, resetting each time the tool procs.

Wanderer's dash attack is a 2-hit combo thoughever, so the same thing applies. It's just the best charm for damage, unless you're a no-hit god with Hunter+barbed bracelet+flintslate.

Reaper farms soul on heal to let you chain heals. Every time your aura wears off, pop it again and get even more aura. This is fantastic with quick heal, mirror, rune rage, etc. You get 2x silk per hit and have such a large hitbox you can hit multiple enemies at once. Add longclaw and you can attack through walls. Dash attack has knockback AND sets you up for combos.

Cogwork Dancers simply cannot touch Reaper clinging to the top corner spamming dair. The giant disjointed hitbox extends out from the wall farther without needing to expose yourself. the charms are staples though, poison goes hard with architect, and the improved healing is great considering this crest doesn't have any spells to spend silk on
funnily enough the rosary magnet charm is better than the shard increase charm, because more rosaries = more shards from NPCs

Very good damage if you charge them during downtime, exact damage depends on the Crest but they are all about as much as 3-5 normal attacks.

I used wanderer up until about halfway through act 2 before switching to reaper. The reality of things is that 90% of the time you can't just whack an enemy multiple times in a row since you either have to move away to avoid an attack or they're a flying enemy, as nine out of every six enemies in Silksong are. If you're only hitting once every few seconds anyway then having more attack speed from wanderer or less attack speed from reaper literally doesn't matter at all. Wanderer's shorter attack range also makes fighting flying enemies significantly more of a pain in the ass than it already is.

Basically to play til wave 10, summon as many beetles as you can then it should kill one of the big guys before they kill you. After that you just need to 1v1 the other big guy which isn't that hard. Melee Architect feels so fucking good to use with how long and snappy its reach is. I got it early enough into Act 2 and used it to clear the rest of the Act 2 pretty smoothly.
I love every part of it's moveset including the pogo since once you get the timing down to use it more like an offset attack with its charge time. Plus it really shreds fat fucks since the only requirement for it to land and bounce is that they're not directly under you (which should've a become habit if you were using Hunter for Act 1 anyway).
The persisting hurt frames on it makes unintentional parrying a lot more common, including deflecting certain types of projectiles, to the point where I'd call it the best defensive crest.

The fact that it has the Tool-enabling ability in addition to that base moveset is kinda nuts, even though I've never actually had to use it thus far.

I am NOT good at video games. What I am good at is bashing my head against something until it breaks.
It took me 63 hours on a casual playthrough to 100% the game; lace 2 took me at least a hundred tries.

What helps is getting enough sleep so your brain can consolidate all that muscle memory.
Aside from that I recommend 100%ing as much as you're able before tackling harder challenges.

And if you want to attempt steel soul: look up BlueSR's speedrun route and always save and exit to menu when you reach two masks up until you get the Fragile Mask.
It took me 20 hours to finish a 3 hour steel soul speedrun. I think I have around a hundred hours in the game at this point?

You poor fool. There are 3 maggot water areas, Sinner's Road, Bilewater (which is absolute hell), and Putrid Ducts, you get the charm early in Putrid Ducts. I'm pretty sure the second and much, much, much worse half of Bilewater can first be reached when you have the double jump, and Putrid Ducts can either be entered from the citadel or after clearing Bilewater. So since there's a 0% chance anyone will willingly return to Bilewater after trudging through the first half of it, there's actually a very good chance you get the charm first, I know I did. The area boss of Sinner's Road is also locked behind double jump, and tosses maggots at you.

Just got killed by Last Judge a few times and after going back to the boss multiple times I agree with the complaints. There's no reason to make the runbacks so tedious especially when the first tries you're going to be a punching bag until you see Last Judge's attacks, which of course deal double damage.

I think I'm just gonna look up a guide for the final 9% because going around whacking every wall in the game to find everything myself just takes the fun out of it for me. Even finding the real entrance to Putrified Ducts and the hidden wall to Nyleth was way too obtuse for my liking, and I really don't wanna subject myself to more of it.

>...except people somehow think that they need to... what, aim the pogo? Input a diagonal to make it work right? Even without the context of pogoing from Hollow Knight, its easy enough to notice that the pogo moves you forward, and you "aim" it by facing the right direction. This leap of "it goes diagonal so i need to press diagonal" is utterly nonsensical to me.

When grandma Silk appears at the beginning of the fight I always had to avert the eyes for a few seconds.

Act 2 has 3 endings. Normal (beat the Act 2 boss normally) and Cursed (beat the Act 2 boss while being in the Cursed state from the eldritch tentacle vine bud baby sidequest) are missable since the 3rd ending (finish the Silk and Song sidequest and choose to use the trap on the Act 2 boss) will advance the game and trigger Act 3.

Get Fractured Mask ASAP.
The moment you get the dash in Deep Docks, head back and work through Hunter's March. Be very cautious cause those ants are tanky as hell.
When you do it early like that, the ant with the mask is actually still alive and SELLS you the mask for 260 Rosaries, so be sure to have enough to buy it.

That item is the biggest thing, because it acts as a perfect diaper. The moment it breaks from you shitting yourself, immediately pause and quit. Also, it'd be good to back up your saves at some of the harder points since you can then just reset if you beef it to something BS.
Unless you mean you want to do it "RAW" in which case you're insane and I just pray for your soul and sanity.

Loadout: hunter's crest
Map marker, dice, magnet
Extra silk capacity, quickheal, heal shield,
Tools: doesn't matter didn't use them
Only karmalita made me switch to a reach charm

>the wanderer has a crit chance when you have enough silk
I can see why people say it's strong/op. More dps, more silk, more dps again with crit

Kind of lame charge attacks don't give silk, I would've like to use them more.
