Why are games today either utterly BRAINDEAD PISSEASY OR excruciatingly HARD?
There used to be something in the middle
sad!

true, why is silksong so easy anyway?

Silksong IS the middle, you're just got braindead from playing all the easy games

Go play a baby game like Shinobi if you think this is hard.

Is Silksong harder than Metroid Dread?

you are trolling right
metroid games have never been hard

yes. raven beak would be a below average boss in silksong in terms of difficulty.

Metroid Dread is the hardest Metroid game by a long shot, you may be unfamiliar with it.

required or optional bosses? can you grind in silksong?

Well it wasn't designed for Nintendoyearolds, so duh

Hornet is weaker than Hollow Knight, that's why it's harder.

it's not that hard. it's no harder than the first dark souls game.

ill admit i haven't tried it yet
i might give it a shot now
but i doubt it's harder than hollow knight

It’s not but its still fun and not necessarily “piss ass” easy

I die a lot but I haven’t gotten stuck.
It’s a harsh medium difficulty.

Dread was still pretty easy, especially if you got the parry window down for the EMMIs then the game was a joke. Ravenbeak was the only challenging fight but it was still nowhere near Silksong's difficulty. Honestly, the end boss of the first act is a lot harder than Ravenbeak just because of the runback.

The games really aren't comparable, Dread is obscenely railroaded but with Silksong even if you're stuck on a mandatory boss fight you can still find hours worth of other places to explore to maybe find upgrades. Silksong is an actual metroidvania with a focus on exploration, Dread is an action game first and foremost.

Like Silksong?

Silksong is only frustrating when you don't have all of the movement abilities unlocked and can't go anywhere you want, and also when you play overly aggressive like a tard and get punished by a boss over and over instead of learning its moves

Every metroidvania is piss easy so I'm actually glad there's a challenging one now. I've been hearing some good stuff about La Mulana too and was thinking of trying it once I finish Silksong.

Silksong is easier than Hollow Knight but I wouldn't call it brain dead or piss easy.

lol no, HK is way easier than Silksong in basically every way except the endgame DLCs

nta but silksong's air healing makes many bosses completely nonthreatening.
if it forced healing on the ground then it'd be harder

Well you see they "balanced" this out by making all the bosses kill you in 3 hits until you get halfway through the game, at which point you'll get enough mask shards for it to be 4. Bosses in Skong are also considerably faster and more advanced than the HK ones. Even the basic enemies in Hunter's March have more advanced movesets than most HK bosses.
Seriously, go back and play Hollow Knight. It is so much slower, simpler and easier it's not even funny.
Anonymous No.721079197 [Report]
Super Meat Boy, I think.
It brought kaizo difficulty into the mainstream, then you had Soulsshit which influenced action RPGs so negatively that every one is now a slightly clunky le tough but fair game.
"If you don't like it don't play it it's just not for you :)"
they say not realising it's this exact attitude that's further marginalising your average action game.

2nd playthroughs always feel easy.
go replay silksong and you'll feel the same way about it.
things are only hard during the learning process anon

>Well you see they "balanced" this out by making all the bosses kill you in 3 hits until you get halfway through the game, at which point you'll get enough mask shards for it to be 4.
But in practise you'll never die in 3 or 4 hits because you can heal constantly so instead you can take like 10+ or even 20+ hits.

>It is so much slower
This makes Hollow Knight more difficult.
Are the Hollow Knight bosses slower than the Silksong Bosses? Sure. On average at least. But the difference is way smaller than the amount Hornet is faster than the Knight.
You're way slower in Hollow Knight. The only thing you've got to your advantage is the late game shade cloak, and even it has a cooldown.
Hornet's agility is many times better.

I'm replaying it right now, and I feel considerably more challenged than in Hollow Knight.
>>721079260
If you manage to consistently hit the boss without getting hit yourself, which is harder than it is in HK. Not saying it's impossible or even difficult, but it is objectively more challenging than it is in Hollow Knight, with how much more aggressive the bosses are and how much bigger the cost is for getting hit.

She's not that much faster. She has the same swing speed and the same general movement speed and jump height. Her only major boons are the harpoon attack and the ability to heal midair.
Anonymous No.721079875 [Report] >>721079971
This is unreasonably hard. No reason to be like this.

either just dive into the poopwater or get swallowed and mash free hits into him and heal afterwards

I'm talking about the whole challenge. We get a gay runback, 4 levels of gayass enemies, this boss who also has randem enemies, and whatever else comes after this. It's exhausting. The Phantom was a good boss, this is gay.

No one knows how to make a real game with balance
Anonymous No.721080972 [Report] >>721081849

And her sprint speed. And the boosted silkspeed sprint speed. And the comparable lack of a cooldown between dashes.
But yes the harpoon adds a lot to it as well. And being able to heal for 3 in the same amount of time it takes the knight to heal for 1, is huge. Especially when you can do it mid air. And when you can use your speed to jump up to the opposite upper corner of the entire arena and heal up there safely.

Hornet might be more vulnerable from getting hit. Technically.
But she'll be hit much less. And when she does get hit, she can recover much more easily.

Are you out of your mind? Every single enemy is a flying, ranged enemy, even bosses. Her mobility advantage is completely void by that.

But you're faster than the enemies. Including the final end game bosses.
So how?

Not a real argument. If everybody played perfectly all game would be easy.

But the point is that it's easier to not get hit in Silksong. Because you're incredibly fast and agile.

I really hope Metroid 6 is in development.
