Samus never recovered from Other M

What is wrong with it? It's the only one without shit gameplay, and the atmosphere is pretty kino. And I just loved that style of graphics idk why. It's mostly just a movie game but still it's the only Metroid that even reaches 5/10. Yeah some older ones like Zero Mission also have good atmosphere but they also have backtracking and no fun upgrades.

Bro, it won't cost you anything.

(Yes, the game is great. go play it)

>Bro, it won't cost you anything.
It'll cost him his time, which for some people is enough. I've been paid to play vidya before and even that felt like I'd been cheated in some instances.

Samus gets redeemed when you consider Other M to be shit that never happened.

Dread is basically the miraculous new entry that Megaman and Castlevania fans have been praying for. By all means with that convoluted development hell it shouldn't have been good.
It was. And surpassed all expectations.
A bit more railroaded than the general people like but it did wonders in connecting the lore of the II remake and Fusion while having callbacks to most of the franchise including the goddamn manga.
So yes, it's worth it.

Well while the extra pics from Zero Mission and the like with her drinking in a bar paint her more as a mature woman, the past scenes growing with the Chozo in the manga indicate she was.

Dread is peak but play some Samus Returns first so you can get used to the parry mechanic. It's far better in dread but the gameplay changes a lot because of it, enemies will almost always hone in on you. Dread nailed pretty much everything except the music.

Dread has RGB vagina bones suit, that makes it the best in the franchise.

So did they ever tall us what happened to that bitch that was controlling the metroids in other M? Or did she just die, and they dumped her body somewhere. I doubt the feds just let that go.

Fusion was a good game that tried new things advanced the story had excellent design for a handheld. Zero Mission doesn't understand the game it's a remake of, reuses the novelties of Fusion without the reasonings for it, shoehorns in stuff from other entries in the series that are completely unnecessary, I could go on but you're probably just rolling your eyes and it's not registering. I didn't say I hated the game, it's just average. It's not Super, it's not Prime, it's not Fusion. The original Metroid is underrated today.

Didn't MB die? The issue was that this and all of Adam's squad dead or MIA meant Samus had no credentials or witnesses so the Galactic Federation (possibly the corrupt branch) would be able to do whatever they wanted there.
I remember all that because the following plot twist was the revelation that Anthony succeeded in surviving after the Ridley boss fight and his arrival there changed things.

Storywise, Other M could have worked if they didn't romanticize her relationship with Adam. He was a bullying big brother in the best interpretations and a drunk abusive dad at the worst. Anthony (REMEMBUH ME?!) was at least nice to her and didn't make her do a pointless Hell Run.

Gameplay wise, if they hadn't done the whole "You only use the WiiMote! :3c" nonsense and ditched the pixel hunts it could have been more enjoyable.

“The thumbs-up sign had been used by the Galactic Federation for ages. Me, I was known for giving the thumbs-down during briefing.

I had my reasons, though... Commander Adam Malkovich was normally cool and not one to joke around, but he would end all of his mission briefings by saying, "Any objections, Lady?" He was joking, but others weren't... At the time I felt surrounded by people who treated me like a child or used kid gloves because I was a woman.

And yet, with Adam, I was grateful for the nod... My past has left me with an uneasy soul, and as a result, it touched me on some level that Adam would acknowledge that past by calling me something delicate—like "Lady." And I knew more than anyone that every word from Adam was deliberate. My thumbs-down was a twofold response—a sign of derision at being called a lady, and a signal of my complete understanding of the mission orders. The other soldiers were always willing to support me with easy smiles despite the fact that I clearly had so much yet to learn. Among them was Anthony.

In the face of his well-meaning behavior, and that of the other soldiers, my response was to become increasingly bitter. I was a child, always with something to prove. A chip on my shoulder.

And I was angry. I felt that if I let my guard down, I would easily be broken. And beyond that, I was scared. But even in the naivete of my youth, I could see in Adam's joking manner how close he felt to me.
Adam knows my past. And he knows me better than anyone else.

Confession time. Because I was so young when I lost both of my parents, there's no question I saw Adam as a father figure. When I rebelled against him, I knew I could get away with it. And his paternal compassion in the face of my rebellion reinforced the special bond I felt with him.

I understood well that chances were slim that I would ever find anyone that understood me like Adam. And yet... When the time came, I still left his side. I was so young. Young and naive..."

Storywise Other M has a schizophrenic placement that doesn't work. It's meant to be post-Super but they try to paint Samus as pre-Zero Mission.
Gameplaywise I actually liked the idea. I enjoy when a company tries to be innovative like that. Even if the mechanic hampers more than help, just a thoughtful way to play already makes the game unique. So I'm actually a fan of the single remote to alternate the gameplay in a weird attempt to mix the Classic and the Prime Metroids.
The issue is more like you said. They had a lot of nonsense like that. And the level design with huge sparse areas didn't help. For what it's worth I actually had fun here and there with the exploration and alternating the combat styles, but the vast majority of the time I was getting bored out of my mind.
